Absolutely wonderful evening! We almost stayed in but so thankful we didn’t. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were on the best date ever. Great atmosphere. We dressed business casual and fit right in. Ordered the chicken liver appetizer and it was the best livers my husband has ever had. The soup of the day was delicious. And we both ordered the pecan trout and was blown away. It was by far the best trout we’d had. We would give them a 10 if it was available. Kathy our server made our night even better. She was spot on, friendly and personable. We will definitely be back.

We booked a reservation here to celebrate my parent’s anniversary and though the food was great, we were disappointed by the overall experience. Whenever gratuity is automatically added to a group (6+ people), I’ve always questioned if we will get the appropriate service since it doesn’t need to be earned like the other tables. We were greeted warmly by the front and our server, the food was well flavored and it’s a cute mountain vibe which any tourist will enjoy.

For a table of 6, the bill was several $100 dollars and we walked away feeling like we overplayed.

First, we were not served bread like the other tables; it was only after 30 minutes or more that we asked our server about it and he blamed it on someone else not bringing it to us. Note: he delivered bread to all the other tables and it would have been best to take ownership of the mistake and make it right.

Second, my Dad ordered a 14 oz ribeye and for anyone who knows steaks, it was not 14 oz which brought into question misleading advertising. My Dad will rarely speak to a manager but after our meal, he stayed behind to have a word for his own anniversary meal.

Overall, I’d recommend this spot for a couple due to price for the group and hopefully more effort without a guaranteed tip. They seemed understaffed in my opinion and a smaller group may get more attention. I’d recommend their trout dishes, side salads (small portions)and salmon. Reminder to ask for bread at the start which was delicious when we finally got it.

A cute cozy spot with really good food! Our server was fantastic for a large party. Loved the seafood pasta and it came out so hot. Loved it!

Delicious food, fresh ingredients, excellent service! My wife had the wild mushroom ravioli and I enjoyed a special offering of Steak au Poivre which was perfectly prepared with their special touch. We visit the area every summer and finally made reservations in advance, so thankful that we did! Great place for a special occasion, noting that it isn’t inexpensive but is well worth it. We can’t wait to visit again!

The Orchard has never disappointed us, and thus it was last night. As we walked from the parking lot I noticed only one other license plate from North Carolina. The farthest away was from Michigan! Our table overlooked the orchard! As usual the service was impeccable and the food wonderful! I ordered the Glenville Trout. WOW! As you can see, I was unable to finish it and am looking forward to lunch today!

We had a very nice dinner here. The potato & mushroom soup was delicious. The shrimp and grits were good. Our reservation was at 8:30. We had an appetizer, but didn’t get our meals until almost 10. I would suggest making your reservation several days ahead of time as this is a very popular restaurant in Cashiers.

We come eat here once a year while we are in Cashiers. Great food. They do alot of fresh local dishes most of which are fantastic. The appetizers are on the very small side, but the main courses are very filling. Service is spot on both the server and the bartender visit the table and introduce themselves. They are always knowledgeable and helpful. Do make a reservation as they tend to fill up. Sometimes if you’re lucky the local black bear will visit the field by the restaurant.

The Orchard Restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants. It is definitely the best in the area. We try to go often and when we do it’s never a disappointment. We have been going now for several years. Joe is absolutely the best and can remember what you enjoy drinking and what meal you had last time. Such a pleasure to have dinner at The Orchard. This time I ordered the Trout Almondine. OMG, I can’t believe what I had been missing out on. It’s now my favorite new dish. My husband had the pasture and sea which is a bacon wrapped fillet and he chose the crabcakes. He also got the chicken livers appetizer, which is his favorite appetizer. Delicious!!! This is definitely our happy place. Highly recommend this restaurant and Joe!

Great Service, Marginal Food, Loud Porch Dining. Three of us went. Two of us thought that their entrees were particularly good. I though my entree was marginal. We all enjoyed the Appalachian Charcuterie Appetizer (A Board Containing Goat Cheese, Pimento, Brie (All from local farms), salami’s, spiced walnuts, dried fruit and spiced blueberry preserve). One member of our party loved the spice blueberry preserve and ordered a side to go with her entree. I had the Continental Divide Trout (boned trout filet laced with a lump crab stuffing and char-grilled over an open flame. Finished with a lemon herb butter.) I was disappointed – the trout was overcooked and dry and there were too many carrots on the dish. Another person had the Panthertown Pork Tenderloin herb rubbed and pan roasted, served with a black cherry demi-glace, crispy Vidalia onion rings and garlic chive goat cheese crumbles. She said that the demi-glaze, missed the mark, but she enjoyed this dish with a side of the forementioned spiced blueberry preserves. The third member of our party enjoyed the Trout Chatanooga (boned trout filet dusted in flour, gently sauteed in olive oil, herbs and seasonings and a splash of wine.) The service was excellent. Our server was professional, courteous, and very attentive. The porch where we were seated was exceptionally noisy – to the point that it was hard to hear the server read the specials, or converse with other members of our dining party.
