I had the banana split at La Michoacana and it was way better than anything I’ve had at Baskin-Robbins. The flavors I chose — Pound Cake, Strawberry Shortcake, and Butter Pecan — were absolutely delicious. Each scoop was rich, creamy, and packed with real mix-ins like chunks of cake and buttery pecans.
The banana split was beautifully made, with fresh toppings and just the right balance of sweetness. It wasn’t just a dessert — it was a full-on treat that hit every craving.

I was so excited to try this place with my 5 and 8 year old sons. We entered and began looking at the menu. After a few minutes I’d say about 10, I realized no one had spoken a word to us, at all. They weren’t busy. It’s like when I tried to make eye contact “Like helllloooo” they made themselves busy by wiping an already clean counter. I looked at the selection they had, the prices and most of all the way we were made to feel like we were intruding-it was actually very awkward- and decided to disappoint my children and leave. I really don’t want to support a business who doesn’t welcome me and my children so I will not ever return. Perhaps that is what they want bc tbh it felt really off.

This place has very good ice cream! They have tons of “paleta” (mexican popsicle) options and every one I’ve tried has been a hit. I recommend the spicy cucumber The staff is very friendly and explained what everything is, and what it comes with. Also $3 a popsicle is not bad at all! A nice little surprise! They had authentic Mexican treats. The ice cream wasn’t top quality, however it was good and they had a variety of flavors that aren’t “usual.” They have food items like nachos, fruit salad, and slushes and smoothies as well. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t slammed busy, but the line stayed decent. The inside wasn’t the cleanest, the decor was nonexistent, but it was roomy and they had chalkboard paint on walls if you had kids you wanted to keep busy.
My daughter had the Mexican cake ice cream flavor and it was “ok.” It had little bits of gansito cake broken up throughout it with ribbons of chocolate. She let me taste hers and if I am honest, it isn’t something I would order. My son had Ferrero roche flavor (or however that is spelled) and it again was “ok.” It tasted mainly of cream and minimal chocolate flavor. After a few bites of any of the ice cream you got a thick layer of cream “film” on your tongue coating the taste buds which was a little off putting. The flavors were very mild and not pronounced, bold, or strong.
I had pistachio and pine nut which were better than ok, they were delicious. Again, once the film coated tongue it wasn’t as good, but it was ok. It had plenty of nut to cream ratio. They do allow you to taste the flavors before you order which was good. They have several sizes to choose from and they are generous with it. They actually pack the ice cream into the cup instead of just dipping and dropping.
The prices were decent for the amount of ice cream you got. We got the “medium” size cups which were $4, so yeah, it was ok serving for that price. I think if I were to go again I would try the fruit options or the strawberries and cream sounded good. I will mention this, there was someone ordering a banana split while we were there this past weekend and it was a GOOD size for that price. It looked quite scrumptious too.
This is one place I would recommend trying at least once. Pine nut or pistachio is the way to go in my opinion. The pine nut tastes nutty and fruity and is light pink, while the pistachio is nutty and creamy.

Excellent selection of traditional paletas, horchata, and fruit concoctions, along with a large selection of ice cream flavors. I had the pine nut ice cream and it was delicious – a pale, creamy pink with pine nuts sprinkled throughout. Daughter had strawberries and cream, and husband had two kinds of chocolate. The staff is friendly, the space is huge to spread out, cute retro tables and chairs, and one whole wall is for kids to color on with chalk. The staff is friendly and the fruit is fresh.

We finally stopped here yesterday. It is delicious! The ice cream is smooth and very tasty. I ordered a banana split (so did my husband) and it was huge. I definitely will never go back to the famous American ice cream place. Everyone was very friendly.
