In the peaceful heart of Montrose Airport, a serene spot amidst the tranquility of sleepy terminals, there lies an oasis of delight known as Horsefly Brewing Co. Here, the delicate dance of brewing finds its stage, its spotlight shared with the occasional hum of an incoming plane.
Upon entering, I was drawn to the thoughtfully arranged clean tables, conveniently stationed near electrical outlets. It’s a comforting haven where you can keep your devices charged while savoring your beverages, blending the convenience of modern life with the flavorful world of craft brews.
Navigating this cozy harbor was a single, super-efficient staff member. With a friendly demeanor and a spark in her eye, she served everyone diligently. Despite managing the crowd single-handedly, she made sure that every interaction was personal, warm, and promptly attended to.
And then came the real treat – a warm, soft pretzel, glistening with clarified butter, garnished with salt, and partnered with a delicious cheese dip. My husband and I shared this delightful delicacy, each bite a dance of flavors, creating a memorable culinary experience.
Accompanying this was a time-honored tradition for us – a can of Banquet beer from Coors. A golden elixir that harks back to a memorable tour of the Coors brewery, it added a crisp and refreshing note to our laid-back airport adventure.
Horsefly Brewing Co. at Montrose Airport serves up a commendable 5-star experience. It brilliantly checks all the right boxes for an airport terminal counter service – cleanliness, friendliness, and a tasteful menu. So, if your journeys ever bring you to Montrose, I highly recommend a stop at Horsefly. Here, amidst the quiet calm of the terminal, prepare to embark on a flavorful journey that’s sure to elevate your airport experience. After all, why just fly when you can Horsefly?

I placed an order for a panini and taco basket. I was charged for an extra taco basket. After waiting 20 minutes, I got my order not packaged to go. Furthermore, instead of hard shell tacos, they made soft shell tacos. I asked to have the tacos remade. 10 minutes later, they still did not have it done. They actually did not even have the taco basket in their queue, so if I had not said something, my order would not have been made. In total, it took over 30 minutes and a lot of persistence to get a panini and taco basket while also being charged an extra $16. Too bad there is no competition in the airport to incentivize this restaurant to do better.

Horsefly Brewing was a shining star on the night of June 6, 2025. These brave workers stayed open when multiple flights diverted on their way to Denver, leaving over 100 people stranded in Montrose. They stuck around and cooked for everyone. All three of them were jovial and kept up spirits for many a weary traveler well past 11PM.
A bright light in an otherwise dismal Sunday night.

Just had a banging cheese steak sandwich. They used the carne asada and it was delicious. Don’t sleep on this place. Also had a great double IPA.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Paid $30 for a microwaved sandwich and burrito. They charge me extra money to put cheese on my sandwich but I got a cheeseless sandwich. The food was mediocre, I make better stuff at home. Definitely a total rip off and not worth the money. The bacon was literally chewy. I had to spit it out. Also, considering all the food is premade, premixed, and microwaved, I have no idea why I waited 20 minutes to get my food! On top of everything else I watched one the guys making the food take a clean glove, proceed to smack another guy with the clean glove, he then put the now dirty glove on and made food with it! Yuck!

If you plan to get food from here get there early. They take forever and struggle heavily to keep up with demand. They also run out of food so if you’re hoping to order something have a backup plan. This is really the main place to eat in the airport so you have limited options. The other place has very limited food and mostly drinks.

Tried just buying a water and a soda. Waited in line for nearly half an hour before giving up. There was just one person trying to do everything. The poor guy just couldn’t keep up. Better off going upstairs to Shelter Distilling. They have food and drinks and a staff of more than one.

The staff was so good hearted and the service was tremendous. I really can’t say enough about how much the staff’s positive attitude made my day better after a massive flight delay!

Friendly service! The avocado toast was delicious with a great presentation. The balsamic glaze on top was a nice touch.
