Our story begins in the 1950s, when a small grocery, deli, and dairy store opened its doors in Port Washington under the name Ziggy’s Harbor Dairy. About ten years later, it became what the community would come to know and love as Harbor Deli. In June of 1997, after spending his entire career in food retail and customer service, Harry DeFeo purchased the deli alongside his wife, Diane, and their children. From day one, their vision was simple: create a place where neighbors could gather, talk, laugh, and enjoy great food together. That family-first mindset still guides everything we do today. Harbor Deli has always been about more than just food. It’s about community, consistency, and making sure every customer feels right at home.

DO NOT COME HERE!!!!
If I can give this place a zero I would. Went to go pick up food the lady inside was very rude, didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Got a meatball sandwich , it was completely cold, only two meatballs, soggy and no flavor at all.

I grew up in Port Washington, so Harbor Deli has always been my “go to” when I come back to town. This year I was traveling on Christmas to be with my mom, so I ordered the Christmas Special that was posted- Chicken Francese, penne ala vodka, and the best salad. And let me tell you- it was delicious! As always, the Harbor Deli team prepared the best food. We all enjoyed it and my mom had plenty for the next few days. It was Christmas Day and they delivered these trays of food! I can’t praise them enough, they are so thoughtful and caring about their customers.
My mom is in her 90’s and I order food to be delivered a couple times a month from them. Everything is always delicious.

I really hope this establishment closes down what a terrible rip off deli. Their food is disgusting and not made daily, sits in the windows to rot. I got a bacon egg and cheese for $8 on a roll what a joke and then they charged me .75 cents for a side of Cajun. Absolute rip off terrible prices. Hope nothing but the worst for them!

Harry and Harbor Deli did such a beautiful job catering a Shiva house for my friend. They went above and beyond in what was included, the setup, the platters, the salads – it was such a comprehensive spread and everything was fresh and delicious. He really understood what we needed and was incredibly wonderful. Would recommend for any catering (was over 50 people).

What a fabulous deli this is! Not only for all their delicious food, but the staff and owner are incredibly nice! I was in there with a super-tired 2 year old who was being difficult to placate. The owner opened up a container of Cookie Monster ice cream for us and made both of our days!! They are super kid friendly and are now offering a Kid Xperience! I have often ordered meals from here but now will be sure to stop in here at every opportunity! A great place!!

It was a windy day in January, so we decided to go to this place to warm up and have something to eat. It’s a cozy and nice location. We ordered avocado sandwiches and hot tea. The staff was very friendly. What a nice beautiful window! I think it will be amazing in the summertime.

I so enjoyed working with Harry and his team while planning a birthday party! I especially enjoyed Roxanne from the deli, she was a tremendous help at our event.
