We luckily stumbled on the place. It was a holiday and 2 other restaurants we like were closed. The staff were very friendly and treated us really well. It was between lunch and dinner. They brought out chips and 2 different homemade salsas to start. Delicious red and green, both were spicy but not too hot. We each ordered the Pollo Ranchero dishes, one with a large side salad, that we shared, and the other with corn tortillas. Both dishes were steaming hot with strips of chicken breast and fresh onions and bell peppers in a flavorful red sauce. The refried beans were delicious. Marieta’s has a nice sized bar area with booth and bar seating and a separate dining room. Lots of free parking behind the restaurant. The place was spotless. And the restrooms were clean!

Cool little spot to enjoy some good food and a cold beer. Salsa and bean dip is really good, served with fresh chips. Wet set on the bar area had our drinks refilled promptly and were checked on regularly. Chicken fajitas came out sizzling hot and fresh and the Chile Verde burro with beans was delicious.

Love this place !! I’ve been here more than a handful of times .. and they never disappoint! Always great service and yummy food ! Tonight was no exception. They closed at 9pm , we didn’t get there until 8:15 pm ( power was turned off in our area ) and still great service ! He offered to make fresh coffee for me , with a smile ! Fajitas came out sizzling , soup was fresh .. I highly recommend this place ! Always consistent .. 5 star Mexican food

All but one brunch menu item is good meal. I’m not impressed with the machaca. Other than that, Sunday brunch and champagne here is a good choice. Eat in the bar and watch the game. We like it.

Food was good. Service was substandard; they were more interested in checking up on those drinking alcohol at the bar than customers eating. Was served our food, but never checked to see if the order was good, which it wasn’t but who’s got time to wait 30 minutes for the server to return to correct it.
Won’t return, prices were good if you don’t mind waiting for service.

Amazing food, the enchiladas were nicely flavored. The salsa was great and just a hit of spice for the perfect combination. The service was spectacular and very friendly. It was a cute and decorated adorable. 120% go there again.

I would give 5 stars but I’ve only been here once. The service was great. The food was great. I even took some home to Yuma where I live. That’s right I drove all the way from Yuma to try it out. I used to live in Santee and went to that Marieta’s every week for 20 years. There is nothing that good in Yuma and I was really craving their food. They did not disappoint

I went to both locations in La Mesa and Alpine. Both had great home style Mexican food. The Alpine location had a little more variety. Warm welcoming restaurants. Both had lovely staff.
