I stopped by around 6pm on a Tuesday evening. It was surprisingly busy. Two large groups and a few parties of two (dares and two gentlemen at the bar). I sat at the end of the bar to people watch since I was solo. Service was fast and friendly. I hot an Earl Grey Martini which seemed to be a popular order. $14 which is on par and perhaps even inexpensive compared to other cities. It was delicious! The decor and general vibe were lovely & relaxed. People were dressed casual to business casual. Plenty of parking in the lot and on the street. It’s directly across from the Smitten Cafe which was an early stop for me.

My friend recommended this spot and it was amazing. I really like the aesthetic and decor. Most importantly the drinks and food were delicious! I had a vegan smash burger with fries which I highly recommend as someone who isn’t vegan. Also the Matcha Lemon Drop and Encanto were very good! I also can’t forget the amazing customer service.

I only gave it 4 stars because the brunch menu was limited and alacart. Otherwise, excuse the pics and the presentation. We dug right in as soon as it hit the table. Dukkah fries were delish as was the smash burgers with egg over easy. Yummy! I’d come here again but maybe like for dinner so I can see whats on the menu.

This is such a cozy little place that has excellent drinks, food, and service. The vibe inside is very relaxed and artsy, and the servers were very friendly and helpful. The tea for 2 was a unique drink that was very refreshing. I got a shrimp burger that was delicious. I like that the focus is on quality and taste, not quantity.

Absolutely loved EVERYTHING about it. The ambiance was excellent. Music playing then live artists playing. The burgers were juicy, savory and warm. Their bread was soft and fluffy perfect for the cold weather. The staff was very attentive to our needs even though the place was packed with a line out the door. Would highly recommend.

The Botanist is unlike anywhere else in Bakersfield. My partner and I came here for my birthday, and the moment we walked in, the atmosphere struck us — dim, ethereal lighting that makes the world outside feel far away, giving you privacy and presence all at once. It’s the kind of setting that makes every conversation feel more meaningful.
The drinks are true works of art — botanical, layered, and memorable in every sip. The food matches that same creativity, balancing comfort and innovation. Their loaded fries are pure indulgence, their tacos pack freshness and fire, and their vegan smash burger (yes, plant-based!) is hands down the most flavorful one in Bakersfield.
What I love most is how both their meat and vegan options shine equally. It’s a place where everyone at the table feels catered to, without compromise.
The Botanist is where you go when you want more than dinner — you go for an experience. Elevated, intimate, and unforgettable. ✨

Proactively pleasant staff. Good bartenders, both as mixers and conversationalists. Impressive selection of both whiskies and Mezcal (not sure about the rest). Solid delicious food. Great decor and an excellent dark “let’s drink” ambiance.
