Small bbq restaurant next to Bluebonnet Palace and you can smell the wonderful bbq from the parking lot. Pretty small inside but there are outdoor seatings.

Food here is excellent. Wish they had ribs though. I’ve been twice and the Brisket and Boneless chicken is great. The waiters were super nice and accommodating. Definitely will be back for a third time. They do Military Discounts

Would return:
Sweet tea was of the true Southern variety.
Loaded nachos were so good we didn’t get a chance to take a picture. The chips were super good even the few that had nothing on them.
Loaded fries were also really good.
Saddle Bags were huge meat tacos.
Cattle Baron was more than enough.
The Ranch Hand was on toasted bread which let the brisket speak.
Chicken Fried Steak was thick, with a really nice peppery gravy.
Sides were: kid approved Mac & cheese, standard green beans, good cream corn, average potato salad.

Was in San Antonio for the day, but my other half wasn’t feeling well, so we went back to the hotel, and I was on my own to eat. So I wanted to find something local to where we were staying. I saw the reviews on this place were high, and who doesn’t like a good BBQ place… so this was the winner of choice. When I arrived it was fairly slow and quiet. The back door is where you need to enter. They were out of some stuff due to an unexpected large party that had arrived and left. Since everything smoked is good, I tried the 1/2 pound plate with 2 sides. The owner was generous with what I ordered, by adding a little additional since they were out of what I really wanted. He also gave me some complementary green beans as a 3rd side, as he had plenty left yet. So I wound up with a much better value, and all he said was, “Just take care of your server, because the large party didn’t” which I thought was very nice, because he’s using extra food out of his pocket, to benefit his servers pocket. The food itself was very good. No complaints about any of it. Cooked well, warm, smoked flavor, tender, juicy, all the things you hope for. The added green beans were a tasty, addition. There was more than enough food, and I had food to take back to the room and put in the fridge for when one of us wanted some. This turned out to be a very good place and I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try.

Perfectly Smoked brisket! The chicken fried steak was crispy outside and tender inside no way the meat ever saw a freezer. The pulled pork was just right, not too fatty and not dry with a great smoke flavor. Sides starting with my favorite, Mac and cheese awesome, pinto beans stewed up with the right combo of spices, and mashed potatoes. This is great place to have lunch on the way to of coming from the caverns or wildlife zoo. It is worth leaving the parks and driving back the 15 mins and eating there. Then return to the parks. Great place super friendly staff. Oh last thing, Eat the peach cobbler yummy!

The Texas BBQ is authentic and is great. The price is reasonable. Instead of cheap toast bread, you can select warm tortillas with your BBQ. The service is also great. Don’t recommend coleslaw because it is too salty. The pull pork is soft and juicy, strongly recommended.

It is a really cool place. Excellent BBQ and the other restaurant is Mexican. You can order from both places. Inside and out side seats. They have lots of band and a large stage outside. My wife’s loves Mexican food and I love BBQ.

I wanted to like this place so so much. It has such amazing potential. There is a Mexican and BBQ restaurant on site as well as a live band outdoor area with a bar. My margarita was absolutely delicious but the food missed the mark. My brisket had good flavor but was really dry and the sandwich really could have used an extra condiment beyond the bbq sauce. Also a couple tried to go thru the drive thru while we were there and were not served until they came in. I want to chalk it up to a bad day, but I was less than impressed.

I recently had a seminar at this location. This is a new location that I tried out in this area. What a big surprise! I found the place to be very appealing. The food was absolutely delicious, especially their beans! A big shout out to Kaitlyn for helping me organize this event. A great big, thank you to Jake Melvin and Lindsey for providing the best service ever to our customers! Definitely a place I would like to come back and visit!

Let me start off by saying the armadillo eggs were delicious! The brisket is perfectly seasoned and moist! Sides are flavorful, and portions are generous. Definitely recommend for all your bbq cravings!

Wanted to try this bbq place out because of the 5 star reviews. Well, I doubt we’ll be back. Signage to find the dining room was vague but finally found the entrance. Food served in the “dining room” in styrofoam to go boxes, plastic ware etc. Portions were generous I’ll give them that. Too much fat on the brisket for my liking so I had to cut it off. The menu said served with “Texas Toast” but we were given tortillas-seriously? They were setting up a huge stage for a concert I guess and the bar area was generously filled with liquor. So this place is a bar with lots of outdoor seating. Not my idea of a nice Friday night dinner with my wife. Peach cobbler dry and tasted like it was made last week. Good luck Blue Pit.
