The hash breakfast is good. So is the soulard slinger, and pancakes.
We were seated first, yet tables seated after us were greeted and served coffee before we were even acknowledged. Our waitress, Rachel, only came over after we had been sitting for quite some time and I began looking around to get someone’s attention.
When she finally approached, I politely mentioned that other guests seated after us already had coffee and said it was unfortunate. Instead of responding professionally or apologetically, she took an attitude toward it, which made the interaction uncomfortable. The situation could and should have been handled much better with simple acknowledgment and courtesy. After that exchange, she walked over to another waiter to complain about or discuss the situation, but stopped when she noticed I was watching.
Our total bill was $92, and although I thought about tipping 2¢, I still tipped $9 (10%) because we did manage to have a good time and the food itself was good. That said, had the service been more professional, she would have easily received a minimum $30 tip.
As we were walking out, someone walking in asked if the food was good, and I told them yes and even recommended the deluxe biscuits and gravy. The food is️ delicious. Can’t lie about that. However, as a paying customer, I don’t and won’t tolerate dismissive or rude service.
Great food, but the service needs improvement. Nadine is also an arrogant woman whose cheap box color hair dye is obviously getting to her head. People of color please spend your money elsewhere
When i asked a staff member for the check, (after waiting over 30 minutes with an empty plate) she said “you arent my table”, laughed in my face and walked away.
Servers do not speak to eachother so hope you get the good one! Because its a free for all!
Bring a good book and some patience.
My wife had a small order of biscuits and gravy with a side order of potatoes and gravy. I failed to get a picture of the biscuits and gravy, but can tell your their made from scratch and it appears the biscuits are seared on a griddle, make them unique and very good. I had the streusel pancakes and opted for blueberry syrup on them. They were crispy on the edges and tasted fantastic.
The entire menu is very reasonably priced and there was several options to choose from.
We stopped at Nadine’s while visiting St. Louis after it was recommended to us. The food was fine. Nothing bad, nothing special.
Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by how we were treated. While we waited quite a while for our food, our four-year-old was quietly entertaining himself at the table. We do not allow screens, so he was stacking the jelly packets and creamers provided. During this time, the owner stops by and makes passive aggressive comments about the table being “messy” and began removing items and tosses them to the side, which startled him and caused him to become afraid and come to me.
Later, after he had finished eating and was calmly looking out the window, she returns and passive aggressively, agin, comments that she will go get a cleaning rag to have him clean the window himself.
I understand the importance of cleanliness. What I did not expect was to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as a family. At no point were we disruptive or disrespectful. Had we known this was not a child-friendly environment, we would have chosen somewhere else. Between the average food and the uncomfortable atmosphere, this is not a place we would return to or recommend to families.
Waffle House would have been just as good, and I wish I would have searched for one near instead.
The hostess was nice and so were the kitchen staff.
