This was our second time here and I was sure that whatever I ordered wouldn’t top the Collard Dog I had on our first visit. I was wrong! The smoked turkey necks were unbelievable- tender, succulent, and just enough smoke. They sat on a bed of braised collard greens that were cooked with lardons of yummy bacon. The pot-licker was tangy with vinegar, smokey and sweet from the necks, and had just enough heat to leave your mouth tingling. After there was nothing left but bones, we had sandwiches. I had the Reuben and she had the Fried Green Tomato BLT both with house made chips and pickles. We topped it off with the dessert special- Apple Tart Tatin. We left with big smiles, full bellies, and a promise to return. Many thanks to our server who made the experience memorable and to the chef for a delicious meal.

Nice little small town. The food was delicious. I believe this town has approx 5 black people according to the census but don’t let that scare you away. Me and my guy came here to grab a bite to eat and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. We had our meal and cocktails at the bar and the staff was super friendly. We are definitely coming back. The food was delicious! Truly southern comfort, yum! The co-owner is also the chef. Restaurant owned by a husband and wife team.

Real food, prepared & seasoned perfectly. The Turkey neck is a must try. I have never cared for collard greens before. I ate ALL of them!
If you have never had beef Tartar, this is the place to try it.
My husband & I both had the Chicken Fried tenderloin. Amazing flavors! The gravy has a bacon flavor that is just enough & not overpowering. The fry on it was perfect & the meat was extremely tender. The steak was served on top of creamy mashed potatoes & the salty, buttery green beans complimented it perfectly.
Our son had the burger & said it was the best he’s had. I tried his fries & fries & pickles. You can tell that everything is prepared by hand without being told.
We had the chocolate torte & passion fruit creme Brule for dessert. We couldn’t decide which one we liked more.
The staff was so kind. Eric, Clayton & Jenn made our experience incredible.
We will definitely be back soon.

Delicious. Fried chicken was the bomb and I had the Rueben. Both were very good but the fried chicken was the bomb with bacon gravy and collard greens. And bread pudding

Wow, wow, wow. What a hidden gem! My parents introduced my wife and me to this place, and we are already planning our next trip back. It’s about an hour and a half drive from our home in Fort Worth, but totally worth it for the amazing food and charming ambience of Hico.
We started with the brisket queso and fried green tomatoes, both of which were the best I’ve ever had of their kind. Collectively, we ordered the shrimp and grits, smoked meatloaf, smoked chicken, salad, sandwich, and pasta Bolognese. Everything was divine. Service was A+ as well.
13/10 HIGHLY recommend!!!

Just dropped in on The Chop House in Hico Texas and was blown away! Amazing restaurant with some of the best food I have ever very had! The steak was seasoned and cooked to perfect! Mashed potatoes homemade and so delicious! The red chili fried chicken was some of the best chicken I have ever tasted! Crisp and tasty on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. For only $22 you get an entire half a chicken with 2 sides! The owners work onsite !

Wonderful gem hiding in Hico! Wonderfully unique flavor forward menu. At lunch we had the Cuban sandwich and the world famous Collard green Hot Dog. Who thinks this stuff up? It was fabulous. To top it off, the Banana Bread Foster with ice cream was inspired. Worth the drive.
