Especially since the arcade/ pinball machines came in here my grandsons love to come to Winged Bear in downtown Simsbury for the games and the food, and it gives me time to relax while I eat, and watch them have a blast!
Have been several times over the past few years with them. This latest visit, 11/9/25 we had a wonderful experience all around so I had to do a review. Service was top notch and I was very impressed! I had a middle table/tall seat at the end of the restaurant and I could see everything that was going on the entire time, and I took notice. The staff were five stars! I haven’t seen such excellent service in quite awhile. Promptly greeting everyone, waters, place servings, apps, main course, cleanup, prompt checks. Place was very busy and staff calmly kept up. And a constant stream of take out orders as well. Food was hot and delicious, and prices weren’t too high!

Our family gets the $10 Tuesday Cheese pizza. It truly has been delicious. Perfectly cooked. Not undercooked at all.
It has been our go to for weeks now. Highly recommend!!!

We went to The Winged Bear for lunch. It was our first time back since the covid shutdown. I am happy to report that they are serving the same excellent food. The Cuban sandwich I had was very good and everyone else liked their meals as well. The waiter was friendly and helpful but not overly friendly. The meals came out quickly but we weren’t rushed at all. The prices are fair. They should update their online information because only Google has their hours. We’ll be back.

The pizza is phenomenal. Always a banger. But the lasagna I had was probably one of the worst I’ve had in my life. It didn’t taste bad, but all lasagna should taste pretty great. This one was just full of tomato sauce and had like 2 layers with barely any meat or cheese. But besides that, this place is great.

Great place for kids – fun casual atmosphere. The pizza is average, good for kids and families. NY style dough/crust – thin with a good crisp but a little dry. Sauce tasted like right out of the can topped Italian seasoning mix and the mozzarella is your bulk sysco style.

Friday at 6 pm. Lots of people getting takeout filling up the joint. Decided to take a seat. Really glad I did. Top notch Pub-fare food right here. Might be the best Simsbury has to offer on that note. Mozz sticks are oversized. Thai chili wings had a food mix of tangy and spice. The pizza had an on-point crust (crispy outside, doughy/airy inside) and a great special sauce. A lil more burger on it would’ve made it unstoppably delicious.

Amazing pizza, I doubt I’ll be going anywhere else for pizza for a long time.

Edit: my first review was from late 2021 and the pizza was amazing. But lately, in the last few months, the pizza quality seems to be far less – to the point where I think we’ll need to find a new place. Here is a large pizza I ordered with peppers and hamburger. Ingredients are sparse and scattered and the pizza tastes undercooked. Sad to have to edit this review.

Edit2: decided to try this again a couple years later (sept 2025). Ordered two grinders. Both came barely toasted, soggy and missing toppings. Guess I’ll put em aside for a few more years and see what happens.

We’ve been coming to the winged bear for many years. Now. An institution in Simsbury. It offers a great choice for pizza and other American fare. I love the updated interior with the pinball games and classic arcade games, making it a fun spot to take the family and kids. One of our favorites is the chicken pesto pizza that has a delicious crunchy crust. I highly recommend you check out this spot.

We went here for a lunch, had a giant pretzel, it was very good, cheese and mustard were excellent. Would get it again! We also ordered a Hawaiian pizza, it was great, perfect crust, ingredients were fresh, zero complaints. We also got a piece of carrot cake for dessert, it was also very good. The icing was pretty amazing, great experience overall, service was excellent, good atmosphere, wasn’t very busy. Will absolutely come back.

Ordered from a delivery app the food came full of grease soaked through the bag dripped all over my counters all over my hands didn’t get the sauce on the side that I asked for there was barely any food in there. A single order of chicken piccata cost me $30 With tip. I have gotten it many times and it’s been wonderful. I don’t know if they have new staff or new cooks, but this was utterly ridiculous. Not to mention. I waited an hour and 15 minutes to get it never again unfortunately the second letdown I’ve had from them. They did refund my money and extended apologies but the food was so greasy. It wasn’t even edible.
