Reviews
Since it was my first time at a Thai restaurant, ordering was a little hard, but the waitress made a few suggestions. I went with the lunch combination, which came with soup, a main dish, and dessert. For the first time in my life, I ate all my food—it was that good.
From the welcoming atmosphere to the incredible flavors, I’m so glad I came here. I gladly give Thai Island a full 5 stars!
The corn fritter appetizer is unique and very tasty! We also enjoyed a salad and main dish along with a bottle of saki.
If you are – like me – not a fan of cilantro, be sure to mention when you order.
Nestled at 210 E Davis Blvd, Tampa, FL 33606, Thai Island offers a dining experience that falls right in the middle, garnering a 3/5 stars. Let me take you through my visit:
Service: Standard and Satisfactory
Our server provided the service you’d expect at any restaurant—friendly, attentive, and prompt with water refills. While there were no bells and whistles, the basics were covered with a smile.
️ Island Vibes: Beachy and Fitting ♀️ ♂️
The restaurant’s decor echoed a beachy vibe, which harmonized well with its Davis Island location. ️ The atmosphere, while not extraordinary, seemed to capture the essence of the island spirit. It’s the kind of place you can imagine stepping into after a day at the beach, and that in itself is inviting.
Flavor Quest: A Bit Lackluster
Turning to the food, I ordered the Beef Pad Pak, a medley of stir-fried vegetables. The disappointment, unfortunately, was the lack of salt and overall flavor. ️❌ For Thai cuisine, bold and intricate flavors are anticipated, but my dish leaned towards the bland side. My friend’s Chicken Pad Thai also fell short in terms of flavor, leaving us both wanting more taste.
♂️ A Balanced Verdict: Not Bad, Not Great ♀️ ♀️
In the end, my experience at Thai Island can be summed up as “okay.” ♂️ While it didn’t leave a lasting impression, it also didn’t leave a bad taste in my mouth. It’s a place where you can satisfy your hunger for Thai cuisine, albeit without the robust flavors that make Thai food truly exceptional. It’s a safe choice if you’re in the mood for a straightforward meal without too many frills.
Remember, everyone’s taste preferences vary, so while my experience was average, yours might be different. Give it a try if you’re seeking a simple Thai meal on Davis Island.
Wonderful outside seating – but no indoor seating as of April 2021 – so not much seating! I hope they open indoor soon because I don’t know how they are managing! Photos as of April 2021.
