The menu is small plates style, so the move is to order a bunch of different dishes and share everything around the table. The bites are small and not messy, so you can eat and talk comfortably. We ordered the jamon flatbread, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, and the Wagyu beef sliders. Everything was beautifully presented. The Brussels sprouts had a great crunch while still being soft on the inside. The Wagyu sliders were perfectly made with caramelized beef that was hot and delicious. The potatoes looked amazing, and the jamon flatbread was soft, sweet, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. We also grabbed a Vienna Lager and a cocktail. The lager was filled to the brim (they’re not skimping on you) and the cocktail had plenty of alcohol and tasted great. Four plates and two drinks came out to about $80, which is very reasonable for the quality.
Our server Faven was super sweet and attentive. The place was definitely busy and the bar area was packed, but even with how crowded it was, our food came out surprisingly fast which was impressive. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation.
The seating is really comfortable, squishy and soft, which makes a big difference when you’re sitting and enjoying your meal. We sat in the middle of the restaurant but there are window seats available too where you can look out over Ballston Quarter.
This is a textbook first date spot. It’s not too expensive but not too cheap, the food is amazing and beautifully presented, and the vibe is perfect for sitting and having a good conversation.
Getting there: It’s on the second floor of Ballston Quarter. If you’re driving, park in the Ballston Quarter garage (super cheap, we paid about $1 for a few hours on a Friday). From the second floor of the garage, walk through the double doors into the mall, turn right, then turn left down the main hallway and walk all the way down. It’s tucked in the corner with dim warm lighting, hard to miss. Ballston Metro is also right there if you don’t drive.
p.s.: I’m a local fan.
The part we didn’t like was a mandatory 20% gratuity tip that was put on our bill because it was an event. They charged extra to anyone that ordered food but never explained this before we ordered. We were only a party of 2 people which made no sense why we would pay extra just because of the venue.
Mind you the venue wasn’t free. We paid money just to enter. I felt cheated because they are just bleeding you out for money at this point. I mentioned this to the establishment and they stood by the extra fee. I won’t be going back. My rating is 1.5 out of 5.
