Piccolo was founded in 1979 — 45 years ago ! Same family here , the second successful business started by Thomas Valenti Sr. and his mother Teresa in Bellmore, Long Island. Tom Sr. had mastered the pizza pie venue through the opening of Tommy’s Pizza in 1961, but wanted more of a restaurant atmosphere. In 1979 he developed the concept of Piccolo, which opened in conjunction with his son Tom’s high school graduation. Tom Sr. had recently married a very popular Bellmorite, Donna Tomasulo, who worked six or more days a week building the dining room business.
Homemade pastas, pizzas & other Italian dishes are served at this family-owned eatery.

I’ve always loved Piccolos and I’ve reviewed it before under my maiden name. BUT now that we’ve had our wedding reception lunch here, I’m reviewing under my married name.
About 55 guests were accommodated with plenty of space, extremely attentive staff, professionally set tables, and plenty of the “best Italian food they ever had” (their words not mine).
They even kindly served our wedding cake for us. I realized after we left that we actually cleared out a little too slowly past our end time, but they didn’t even make us feel rushed.
Truly the best place for parties.

Excellent service. The staff went above and beyond for our group of 6 people.
Our appetizers were muscles and meatballs they were both stupendous.
Everyone enjoyed thier meals.
My meal was okay, the sauce was a little on the salty side for me. The chicken lost its crunchiness with the brown sauce that they put on top.
The staff brought us a complimentary gazpacho soup which was absolutely delicious. Also got complimentary bottle of amaretto and sambucca.
Definitely a wonderful place to go and enjoy a fancy Italian meal with friends and family.

I placed an order online. Received a confirmation of the order with an estimated delivery. Received a confirmation that the is order is processing. After 1 hour, I called because I had not received my order. A very rude woman answered and said they never received the order. I told her I had proof that they did. No problem mistakes happen. After some huffing and puffing from the employee, I was told, “I guess we will get you your order”. The order arrived 20 minutes later. The driver was just as rude as the empoyee on the phone. It was cold and the cheese tasted off. I threw it out and I made the family scrambled eggs. It was a simple order of half a Sicilian pie, well done. It was obvious the pie was sitting around awhile as it was not packaged as it usually is. I am sure it was a busy night. The weekend before Christmas is a busy time for most establishments. Mistakes happen but it is the way the mistake is handled that returns customers. The attitude of the employee was a big turnoff, especially the huffing and puffing. It will be a while before I order from Piccolos again. I rated Atmosphere a 1 star because of the employees attitude.

Pasta with no sauce, even though it’s in the picture?Seafood “quattro” appears to be missing one of the stated four–lobster tail–although there were clams and mussels, a few shrimp and scallops. Way too much calamari instead of the interesting stuff.
They give a nice side salad, generous overall portions.

Came here for dinner on Sunday and cannot say enough wonderful things about the service. There are many restaurants on Long Island who have good food but service it what really makes a place stand out. Our server Theresa was beyond exceptional. She was attentive, charismatic and truly made our already good experience with the food a memorable one for how she treated us. We can’t wait to come back and will make sure if she is working to ask for her. It’s not often you go out to eat and get service that really goes over the top and truly makes you leave feeling special. Thank you Piccolo and Theresa for a wonderful dinner.

Pizza/restaurant next to King Kullen. Nice looking place, seated relatively quickly. There is a separate room next to the main dining area. Service started okay, then lagged. Had to wave someone down to take my payment. And the food, to my taste, was not very good. Hot, but not at all tasty. My wife felt the same. The bread and salad that is offered at no charge was fine. Drinks left something to be desired as well. Clean place though, with plenty of parking, and accessible ♿️.

Second time coming here and it was terrible. There was 1 waitress so it was extremely slow. Our rice balls came out frozen. My pasta tasted a little weird. My son didn’t like his Rigatoni at all. Not sure if I will come back here again…..

For gluten free people: this restaurant does offer gluten free options. However I want to strongly warn against the gf pizza. It was so hard I could not eat the crust and left a pile of crust on my plate. It was so hard tha It actually chipped my tooth and I had to go to my dentist to have it smoothed out. I wasn’t going to write a review, but since I’m still dealing with the aftermath of the meal 2 weeks later I felt like I needed to warn others who may be looking at getting the gf pizza.

Our favorite Italian restaurant! Great food, sizable portions and at reasonable prices. Has my favorite baked penne at any Italian restaurant I’ve been to. Highly recommend.
