It was pretty busy and we had to wait alittle bit, But not a big deal. Food was good and prices seemed fair. Nice atmosphere too. Finding the entrance was harder than I thought it would be though.

My suggestion is come for one of their great bakery items to-go and don’t bother on the rest. The non-bakery food here is overpriced and not consistent. Salads are good. Burgers are okay. Soups are salty. Brisket is pretty good, but I’ve also had better. Tonight, my first plate of mac and cheese as part of their Western Bowl was a soup (I could have tipped out a 1/2-1/3 cup of yellow-y water from it. It actually sloshed as she put it down. Waitress tried to first tell me it was supposed to be like that but brought it back after finding some “better stuff in the back” when I disagreed.) but the brisket over the top was good. Pretty sure they just took it in the back and drained off the liquid before bringing it back to the table because most of the noodles didn’t have cheese or any type of sauce on the second try. Service was bare-minimum of what you would hope and expect. They had an abundance of front of house staff (they had enough extra staff to mop and clean the hostess and bakery area at 6:15pm, for example, and still have multiple extra people on the floor), but not a lot of follow up and curt. Kinda gave the impression that they were inconvenienced by us even showing up. We spent 40 minutes waiting for food when they only had a handful of tables full, so maybe the back of house was understaffed. Keys has a tag line about “memorable service and absolutely the best food” and while it was certainly memorable, for better or worse, maybe “the best” is only for folks who come on a weekend when its more packed and better staffed on the restaurant side.

The food is great. There are some gluten free options. We estimated an hour for our dining experience. Our server was friendly but didn’t take our order until we had been there for 35 minutes. We had to get the food to go in order to make our appointment.

The server made us feel as if we were a bother. I am a server myself so I want good service and respect. We did not get that. There were also no smiles from our server. We had to ask our server for things multiple times because she kept forgetting. The food was great!!! But I don’t want to go to this location again.

Very modern and open. Nice fireplace if you like Hightop tables. Waitress was nice but forgetful. I noticed most of the staff was not overly friendly and didn’t smile much! Food not very good. Onion rings burnt on the edges, fish over done, food not well presented. Bakery was very nicely displayed and good. I’d rather go to Keyes Cafe in woodbury. They are always nice and the food is very good in woodbury even though place is not too modern.

Fancy new location but same great service and quality food. Our breakfast was a little slow coming out because they were very busy (Sunday morning) but it was hot and delicious. Family friendly. Lots of parking.

The food is really good and not greasy! I went here for dinner one day and breakfast the next. The prices are pretty normal and the portions are large. Highly recommend getting a bakery treat/pie. They are cheaper than expected and taste great!

Went a couple weeks ago for a planned dinner, but there was inclement weather and they had to close early. Waitress was very gracious, and although they couldn’t make anything except soup or salad it was still delicious. Would recommend most highly in terms of fine yet comfortable atmosphere, great food, and good pricing.

FYI: Not all Keys are created equal ! Love Keys, have been a loyal customer of Keys all over the Twin Cities for decades & heard that a Stillwater location had opened. Love Stillwater & so excited to go. Didn’t know about the early Sunday closing, but no problem, we had 15 minutes to order & have the Keys menu memorized. I was absolutely shocked by the rude server anywhere, much less at a Keys. The server immediately informed us that they were closing. She then proceeded to take our friends’ drink order while totally ignoring my husband & I. Concerned she would empty the coffee pot, I got up to follow her to request our drinks. Well, needless to say, as you can see from the pix, I hope they get used to an empty restaurant from service like that. SO Disappointed !
UPDATE: Folks, please read owner’s response. Her incident information is incorrect & it is interesting how she conveniently & very quickly turns the fault on the loyal long-time Keys customer.

Keys Cafe and Bakery in Stillwater has quickly become one of my favorite places to frequent in the Washington County area. This establishment far surpasses any of the restaurants in down town Stillwater due to its top-notch food, service, and atmosphere. I’ve sampled many of the items available on the menu, including the siracha cod, mushroom Swiss burger, and the patty melt. The Cajun skillet is particularly delicious. A special shout-out to the bartender who served my food over the past two Sundays – her professionalism and polite personality are second to none. I hope everyone who reads this review will check out Keys in Stillwater – bring lots of business and revenue to this all-American cafe and let the owners know that we want to keep this place in business for years and years to come.
