We had a wonderful dinner. On Sunday evening, Liberty was pleasantly quiet and the waitresses had time and were very friendly and helpful.
The food was excellent! The prawn and paua dumplings are an absolute hit. The octopus was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – fantastic! Unfortunately, the cauliflower was also covered with too much sauce. The rib eye was super juicy and tender. However, we should have ordered a side dish, as we had already eaten the rest of the meal quite a while ago.
The Liberty is highly recommended; it is one of the best places we have eaten at in New Zealand. Thank you very much for this experience.

We shared 7 dishes and couldn’t fault any of them. All superb. We were too full for dessert though. I would of loved to have tried the tiramisu cheesecake.

We had a fantastic evening at Liberty Restaurant. The staff are incredibly professional and every dish was cooked to perfection. The flavours, presentation, plate temperature and portion sizes were all spot on. Moreover, I ate a hatted restaurant in Auckland yesterday. This place is even better taste.

Outstanding place. Pricey but such a nice night out. All the staff were super lovely and attentive. Food was fantastic and well thought out. The waitress explained every dish when she dropped them off and how the menu worked up front (and checked for allergies, the table behind had a few and she confidently explained which meals would be applicable, or changes they could make). The tables were well spaced, low level music and well light

What a highlight to start 2026. We had the absolute best night. Each meal was delicious, all of the staff were friendly and tentative. We’ve never been before but will sure to be back. We loved the oysters & they were so good we had to have a second round before dessert! Thank you. We are still buzzing from such a fabulous night. Especially given the crappy weather & it being a Sunday!

The food was phenomenal – I wish I could eat more at a sitting but the small plates allowed us to try 4 items. The sourdough toast and onion soup butter was very good but after having the other small plates, I would pass on this (just because the others were so good). The ‘natural’ oysters were large, tender and delicious as was the accompanying mignonette. We also had the prawn and paua dumplings – excellent, and the grilled octopus with mint and beans that was sublime. The green beans…stop it!!! Kids would eat their veggies if they could have these every night. Kudos to the under 30 chefs (!!!!!!) for the delicious and inventive menu. The service was wonderful, assisting us through the menu and filling our wine as we explored. We finished the meal with a nice ruby port. This is a must stop.

Went to this restaurant using First Table; with this discount, it was worth it. We tried many plates and it was sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. The lamb shoulder was VERY good. The market fish crudo was not good however. The wine Wet Jacket Putangi was also not very good. Hence, for full price, we would have been dissapointed, but with 50% discount it was a nice experience.

Found this place on First Table and decided to give it a go. Oh my DAYS. It was sooooo yum! All of the food we had was phenomenal the flavours are divine. The staff are so attentive and Olive who was our waitress for the evening was great at reccomending the wines and talking is through our dishes. Impeccable service, our coats appeared for us as we were paying before we even though to ask and we honestly left feeling like we’d had a really memorable dining experience. Ten million stars. A lovely birthday treat.

Such an incredible dinner experience! Booked it for my friend’s birthday and everything from the food quality to the surprise dessert lettering and the lovely service was just perfect. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion 🙂

Unsure if we came on an off night, I understand we all have off days and especially from working in hospo, I get it. The oysters were teeny tiny but tasty, the prawn and pāua dumplings were yummy and the hapuka tasted underseasoned. I thought the Hapuka was a small size for it being a large dish on their menu.
The energy felt slightly chaotic with the service, I don’t know if the flow for service was a bit out of order than usual but our server wasn’t very attentive, didn’t come to check on us or top us up on water. All and all, I wasn’t blown away like the majority of the reviews. I hope to be back someday to have a better experience.
