For Info It’s Cash Only: went there today for lunch (25.02.26) Was a nice sunny day and sat out front. We had Fish and Chips, portions were large and the staff were super friendly. Would recommend.

Sat inside for a family treat.
Ordered 2 large which came out on 2 tiny plates, had to Order some more. We then found a big black hair in the chips.
Not nice. Couldn’t eat the rest of our food but only offered a partial refund.

I go almost every time I visit Ely now, the chips are some of the best in the area. Allowed to sit in when just buying chips which makes this an even beter option, as on cold days we don’t always want to take away! Always somewhere I recommend when someone tells me they’re in Ely for the day

CASH ONLY PLACE.
Everything super nice, except that the back room was lacking fresh air, so the smell and air felt really heavy. Apart from that, the service was prompt and the portion massive for the money. If you are two adults, easily can get one big cod and chips and share.

Staff leave alot to be desired.
Very curt / rude young ladies serving.
There are two seating areas, one looks quite nice, we were dumped in the other which resembles a 1970s caravan that hasn’t been renovated.
They wait for you to order then announce its cash only and point you in the direction of the cash point.
Almost £30 for two meals with no drinks.
Despite the food being nice I would 100% not return to this place.

Our first trip to the UK and The Fish House was recommended by a local on the train we took. Great choice! Large portions, friendly folks behind the counter. Had some issues ordering because they don’t take credit cards or American cash but we found a travel agency that helped with the currency exchange.

All I can say is WOW. First time we’ve used this chippy as we aren’t local. I wish I could take it with me back home. Best fish n chips I’ve had in a long time . Brilliant. Very helpful staff. Can sit in or outside.
