We ordered the beef barbacoa and the chicken tacos. While both dishes were made with fresh ingredients and were nicely plated, they unfortunately lacked flavor. They weren’t bad — just under-seasoned and missing that bold taste you expect from Mexican cuisine.
The chips and salsa were very good, but the salsa portion was extremely small — probably around two ounces — which isn’t really enough for two people to share. They do offer free refills, which is nice, but it felt inconvenient having to track down the waitress each time we needed more.
One thing we didn’t enjoy was the lack of a physical menu. Instead, you’re handed an iPad to browse the menu. It wasn’t very easy to navigate, and with cold, flu, and COVID season, it felt uncomfortable using a shared device that so many others have handled.
The prices were also on the higher side for what we ordered, and we were surprised there isn’t a lunch menu available, which would have made it more appealing for midday dining.
Overall, the restaurant has great potential with its ambiance and presentation, but we were hoping for more flavor and a smoother dining experience for the price.
The decor was bright and cheery. I loved all of the Mexican style decorations. I liked the neon light art.
Our servers were great and i like how they helped one another. My tablet menu stopped working one minute into exploring it and a server was right there to replace it.
We never used a tablet menu before and I was afraid that I’d have to order through it. We still ordered through the waitress. I’m a boomer and enjoyed this new menu experience.
Our food was terrific! We’ll seasoned without burning your lips off like other Mexican restaurants. However, that being said, I do enjoy spicy foods but my wife hesitates going out for Mexican because of the spiciness that it is known for. She does want to come back here!
We went on a Sunday evening so it wasn’t to hard to get into or out of the parking lot. That is one reason we didn’t come here earlier.
I would highly recommend that you try Tequila’s. It is truly very good.
Service notes: only one other table occupied in the entire place. She didn’t greet me or ever smile or express any enthusiasm. She walked over and dropped off a dirty iPad which I guess is their new menu? I used to work in this area and sent so many friends to try this place. Things have gone down hill tremendously. She also kept handing me all of my plates so I can rearrange the table and place them down. Then she kept moving my glass of water by putting her dirty hands all over the rim of my glass so she could retire plates. When I was done she pulled up with an electronic device and gave me my total. No time to “whenever you’re ready”. I typically would love the prompt checkout. But, I was already looking at everything with critical eyes.
