“Wow, fantastic new Colombian food spot! Although the space is small, it’s surprisingly spacious with plenty of parking – a major plus! The service is terrific, and our food arrived quickly, piping hot!
That’s a huge plus for me; I love it when my food is hot. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the Wednesday special, Ajico, which was delicious – one of the best I’ve had in Chicago, aside from Barranquilla and Miami. The Picada was also on point, delicious, and a must-try with great, shareable portions. The empanadas were a little different from what I’m used to, but they were amazing and delicious. I also had the Arepa de Huevo, which was my favorite – I haven’t been able to find them in Chicago, just like the ones in Cartagena or Barranquilla. Check them out; you won’t be disappointed!”

If you’re craving real, authentic Colombian flavors, this spot is an absolute must-visit ! The food is bursting with that traditional homemade taste that instantly brings back memories of home ️. Every dish is prepared with so much love and attention to detail — you can really feel the passion behind it ✨. I’m so happy they opened this restaurant because I’d been missing those rich, comforting flavors for so long . From the seasoning to the presentation, everything is just perfect . Truly excellent food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere — highly recommend!

Great little Colombian food spot. Open for like two years now. I ordered empanadas and they were fresh and very flavorful! I will be back to try more off the menu. The staff was friendly and inviting. Parking is available and outdoor seating. I was told they have live music sometimes. I recommend this spot for groups or a quick bite.

My husband and I went to this Colombian restaurant in River Grove since it’s fairly new, and we wanted to give it a try. Let me tell you—the food was amazing!

For starters, we had a house drink special, which was a lemonade with the perfect balance of flavor—refreshing and delicious. We started off with meat empanadas and their yummy sauce, which was full of flavor. Then, we both ordered the Bandeja Paisa, a traditional Colombian dish that includes arroz, frijoles, carne molida, chicharrón, chorizo, huevo, aguacate, plátano maduro y arepa (rice, beans, ground beef, crispy pork belly, chorizo, egg, avocado, sweet plantain, and arepa). Every bite was bursting with authentic taste! The crispy chicharrón, the perfectly cooked chorizo, and the creamy avocado all came together beautifully.

The service was great, and the staff was very attentive. The restaurant was pretty empty, which is surprising because more people need to know about this place! The prices were fair, and we definitely plan on returning. The ambiance was nice—more of a casual dining setting. They also have an ATM, accept Apple Pay and credit cards, and offer an outdoor patio with plenty of parking.

If you’re looking for delicious Colombian food, this place is a must-try!

Estuve aquí hoy- so I ordered the bandeja paisa and wow for the $33 everything lacked flavor- seems they used so little condiment it’s crazy- the shredded beef was decent but the beef steak just had a sprinkle of chimichurri sauce- the beans was bland- chicharrón had absolutely no seasoning not even salt and it was to soft and rubbery! I even told the waiter this is not chicharron it’s not crunchy he said it’s all preference who orders soft rubbery chicharron? Another Downfall was that everything made it to our table barely warm and we were the only ones there at the time! The only thing that was hot was the white rice- my wife said her food was decent but lacked flavor and it was also barely warm- will NOT return to this Colombian restaurant.

La Provincia Restaurant Review – 3.7/5

La Provincia delivers an authentic Colombian experience with flavors that hit close to home, though a few dishes could use fine-tuning.

Empanadas were a solid 3.5/5 — crispy and satisfying, though they didn’t quite steal the show.

The bandeja paisa came in at 3.3/5. While the overall balance of flavors was decent, the beans were absolutely to die for — easily a standout at 4.5/5. Unfortunately, the dry meat brought the dish down.

The patacón was somewhere between a 4 and 5 — great crunch and flavor, though the cheese was a bit heavy for my taste.

As for the carne asada, the meat was dry and tough (a 3/5), but the rest of the plate made up for it, rounding out the dish to a 3.8/5.

Overall, I’d give La Provincia a 3.7/5. It’s a great spot for solid Colombian food, especially if you’re after beans that’ll keep you coming back. With a few tweaks to the meats, this place could easily hit the 4+ range.

in all seriousness, I really don’t like writing bad reviews. This is the third time I’ve tried this restaurant. I wanted to give it a fair shot before I gave it a review I figured because I ordered Delivery that that was likely why the food didn’t stand up to the level that I thought it would be.

i walked in ordered arepa and empanadas.

i got them in about 22 minutes. a long time for a fried dish.

as i was sitting waiting the juice machine i was next to had a really sour smell although i did see one of the girls cleaning.

the food itself did not smell appetizing when i received it. it honestly is not good.

which is so disappointing i was so excited for a Colombian restaurant. unfortunately i don’t recommend this place.

the arepa was sooooo dry flavorless.

empanada weird texture

This is my 2nd time coming here. I wanted to like it since I live in the area, however this place lacks so many things.

First off, they have no regular soft drinks and diet anything, forget about it. All liquor or sugared beverages. I tried to order a guabana beverage and it was not good.

We walked in and waited forever to be attended to.
Then we ordered an appetizer (pork belly) & it was overcooked. .

Finally we ordered dinner, they brought out 2 bowls of beans as if they were soup, we waited ten mins, then they brought my husbands meal out.

I then sat and Sat then they brought mine out 15 mins later and it was room temperature, salad was a joke with no dressing, tampiqueña steak was small, fatty, & rubbery. Nothing like what it normally is in other columbian restaurants.

They took forever to come see if we lacked anything.

Sadly, I will not be back. It was overpriced, lacked flavor, and just was not fulfilling.

A clean establishment, but there are buts… The steak is rubber, the avocado was not freshly cut, the soup was barely warm. A huge minus, the music was playing very loudly, it was impossible to speak, it felt like they wanted to kick us out but didn’t know how. We had to go to another bar. Then an hour later we saw that they had some kind of party, then it became clear why they turned on the music so loudly.

We came here with our family today!
I thoroughly enjoyed this Columbian food experience. Our server was kind and attentive, and the restaurant was extremely clean and well maintained. The food prices were extremely affordable for the amount of food you get.
I will definitely be coming back again.
