Camp Briteside: Family-Friendly Dining with Great Vibes in …
Reviews
Service is great, too. I’ll be coming back with the family to try out that play area!
That said, the atmosphere is where this place shines. The outdoor area is really fun with games like cornhole and ping pong, making it a great spot to hang out with friends. I’d recommend coming here more for drinks and the experience, maybe eat beforehand if you’re looking for a great meal.
I know, people tend to either give 5 or 1 star reviews; you guys stop that! Having said that, I do not give out “5 stars” lightly, but based on our experiences, it is a solid 4; I reserve the right to change it later…
The first visit we had the Fried Chicken Plate (and it was amazing) and the Signature Burger. I think the chef is afraid of seasoning because (and I have never had to do this) I actually had to salt my burger at the table. The fries are good, but again, almost no seasoning.
Second visit: lipstick on the glass of wine. We had the Classic Burger (great!) and the Westside chicken “burger” (also great). I asked for extra aioli for my fries and a tiny plastic thumbnail came out half full — but our server, Shawn, took care of me and went back for more. Chefs: care about presentation and your end-user…dude, it matters; watch “Diners, DriveIns, and Dives” and see how enthusiasm is reflected to a customer — if you don’t have it, you’re in the wrong line of work.
So, we had good, timely, service both times that we went on a Saturday afternoon — it was moderately busy both times.
Shawn and Ashley were good to us — you guys are the face of the company, management needs to pay attention to that, I hope they take good care of you.
I sure hope management reads these reviews: all those recorded “bad” experiences can’t always be explained away with “victim blaming”… just sayn.

The Wait:
We arrived. The place isn’t busy. Many tables sat empty inside and some of the patio furniture sections outside were open as well. We were told a 30-minute wait for a table. We waited at a picnic table outside in the wind. It took an hour to be seated. Outside. On patio furniture. I peeked back inside the restaurant and over 90% of the tables were empty. Short staffed, maybe?
They seated us. We were a larger party and they shoved us together on a small outside patio table even though larger tables were open inside. It was cozy…
Twenty minutes later, our server shows up for our drink orders. Some of us got our drinks. Some of the party didn’t get their drinks…until much later. Thirty minutes later, she takes our food orders. An hour later, we received our appetizers, and it took an hour and a half to receive our food.
Expect a long wait. For everything.

And How about That Service?
Lacking. More than lacking… it’s terrible. That is, until the very end when we received our check and then our waitress gushed over us with attention and kindness (someone wanted a tip, maybe?). Prior to that, no one ever came to our table to check on us, refill our drinks, or see what we needed. No one paid any attention to us. Customer service is not a top priority here.

Let’s Talk Food
Not much to discuss here. Expect little and the food is mediocre at best. The orders were incorrect to top things off. The “chili” on the chili dog is more like taco meat. It has no sauce and has a strong taco flavor. The “chili” fries have the same problem. I wouldn’t call it chili. The wings were pretty tasty, though.

The Atmosphere
It’s a great place if you want to bring your kids to run around and play outside while you wait endlessly just for a drink and hours and hours for food.
And those bathrooms…don’t get me started. Not one person in our party liked the concept of the “open concept” bathrooms. It’s just open to the restaurant for everyone to see, and with all those sinks…it’s awful with absolutely no sense of privacy.

In the End
Camp Briteside falls terribly short with their service, customer service, ridiculous waiting times, and mediocre entrees at best. I cannot recommend it. Unless you just want a place for your kids to burn off some energy and you don’t mind waiting hours and hours for a seat, food, or even just a refreshment while being invisible and ignored by the staff.
