Hog Wild BBQ restaurant in Portland, started as a catering business by Husband and Wife, Tammy & Kevin. We quickly expanded, my uncle (many of our regulars would know as Duane) and other family joined and we moved into a take-out window. February 13th, 2012, we opened up our first sit down restaurant. Kevin and Tammy’s daughters (one of them being myself), family and friends of the family are all apart of the Hog Wild Family and the growing success of the business. We are all proud to serve our award winning BBQ Sauce that gives the perfect finishing touch to our authentic mouth watering menu of Beef Brisket, Baby Back and St. Louis Spare Ribs, Pulled Pork and much more!

The restaurant is nice, the service was great. The food however, was a disaster. The brisket was dry and brittle with no smoke ring or flavor. The St. Louis style ribs were cooked to perfection, but the sauce was seasonless and bland. The collard greens were bland with no meat, and the so-called red beans were actually pinto beans with big giant chunks of vegetables, no roux whatsoever! The mac and cheese was dry and flavorlessThe Mac and cheese was dry and flavorless. I am a Creole lady and I know red beans and rice and this wasn’t it. We spent nearly $70 on food that went to waste. We will definitely not be returning.

This place is a tucked away local little gem. Especially when the weather is nice on the outside I remember. Also staying warm and cozy inside when its cold outside. Great atmosphere. Food is exceptional. Servers are outstanding. I want to shout out our server Alex !
As an industry worker back in my younger days; I just want to pass on some words of wisdom and give some insight as now a customer :
*Please take care our servers generously. They often times even share with their whole team and they all have families too.
*Remember they work hard to serve and cater to us, they set the tone and create the warm welcoming atmosphere for us and they deserve it !
Its upsetting to see when people skip out on the tip out especially on an overwhelmingly super busy night.
There is a whole team working together to feed you so you don’t have to do anything, show respect and gratitude.
Team work to make good vibes and happy people work. As customers we can be a part of that. Good dining brings people together

Went for dinner for a group of 3. Not many folks there at all for a weekend dinner. I had brisket which was very tender and tasty. Not much for a smoke ring on it but tasty. We split some hush puppies for the table that were surprisingly tasty. My sides were the beer battered French fries (excellent) and mashed potatoes and gravy for dipping the fries of course! Gravy was neutral but the mashed spuds were tasty and had small chunks of red potato skin in them so they were real spuds. Had a decent amber beer to go with the meal. We’ll definitely be going back.

This place is awesome! I went there yesterday for the first time and got two originals with beer battered fries to go and was VERY happy! The food was amaizing, the meat super tender, and they have a fry sauce that’s to die for. The guy they had at the register to order from couldn’t have been better. Very informative, offered ice waters since I didn’t order drinks, and even added a tasty little morsel for my 2 fur babies waiting in the car. The service was fast and the guys who prepared my food did a great job puting it together. They even made sure I had the fry sauce I didn’t know about, plenty of ketchup, and lots of napkins that I definitely was thankful for later! Major kudos to the crew down there and to the one who does the recipes cause this place is sure not to disappoint!

I like their food ok. Not the best, not the worst. Ordered delivery at 6:12pm called at 7:05pm and they said they had a rush of 12 orders all at once so it wasn’t ready yet and would still be a bit. This might make sense for most restaurants, but a restaurant that makes all their food prior in the day and then when orders are placed just has to plate them it’s BS. Took 1 1/2 hrs for food to be ready. Then of course my luck the grub hub delivery driver stole the food (he drove north on 205 was getting on Hwy 26 when he claimed it was delivered and I live in Damascus) I will never order from here again. If you want their food, go in and eat in house, then it’s OK. Never order online!

I can’t express how happy we were with the food and the staff.

They welcomed out large party after my father-in-law’s memorial service and took wonderful care of us. The table was ready on arrival, the folks taking care of us made sure we felt welcomed and answered any questions we had about the offerings…

And the food? Absolutely wonderful. Get the Mac and Cheese you will not regret it. The meat was cooked perfectly and their fried okra is the best I’ve had since leaving the south.

I should have looked at the reviews before we came here. After waiting for a table for 25 minutes, finally got sat down and the table was sticky. Food came out cold, expensive for small portions. After reading all the other reviews I can tell there is no point in giving this place a second chance, it seems the owner/management has no clue on what’s going on and just blames customer after customer while excusing their lackluster team. Shifting blame to the max.

Edit: Point proven by the owner response. Apparently according to their own posts on social media, they’ve ran the place 12 years. Why are you claiming as if you built the place and got it started for the first 13 years? Do better, your customers deserve more than cheap pre boxed food and cornbread you don’t even actually make in house.
