Freshly made food with massive portion. Yes, you get your money worth. We ordered 2 plates of jollof and a plate of okra with assorted meat (the plates were filled up. He is extremely generous with the portions). The packaging is lit. He is fancy with the food and packaging. My man is an extreme food critic but he said, the chef is a professional cook. The assorted meat was well flavoured. The okra soup and jollof was good.
He sells from his apartment. we paid before service. Be ready to pick up at his door.
We had no problem with our order. He was polite.
We are from Atlanta and it has been difficult finding a good restaurant here in BWI each time we visit.
I definitely will come back again.

I found this place while I was looking for African food near me. I was a little skeptical given the very few reviews and the fact that the address is an apartment.
It is indeed not a restaurant but a carry out run in the chef’s apartment.
I became extra skeptical when he wanted me to make payment upfront through Zelle or cashap so I decided to just order one item.
Fast forward, he texted me to say the food was ready. To my surprise the food came presented in really nice containers and well packaged. I couldn’t wait to get home and give it a try. I am happy to report that the food tastes really good. He literally killed every single item. I will definitely order more items and update my reviews.
Things to note:
-He’s currently operating out of an apartment, I think it’s take out only from my experience.
– I think he’s a real chef, no kidding.

100% recommend. I’ve been trying to introduce African cuisine to my son, but he wouldn’t eat anything after the first taste. He tasted Chef John’s okra stew and instantly asked for more. He was so excited we finally found African food he loved. It was such a beautiful moment for my family. The food presentation, quality, and portion size were all outstanding.

Chef John puts his heart into his meals and gives his client a wonderful experience. Recently I experienced his seafood okra aka ila a la se po… it was amazing! The whole family loved it even my young kids 10 & 8.
My kids had his turkey 2 years ago and requested for it again this year, that’s how memorable his meals are. So as requested we tried his raga turkey, spinach aka efo riro and Jollof rice for Thanksgiving 2024 and he did not disappoint!! Everything was tasty, people kept asking where the food was catered from.
Kudos chef, we enjoy your meals. And we will keep coming back.

The packaging is 5 star. The food portion 5 star. The customer service is 5 star. I am so happy I didn’t order a tray or half tray. I started with a plate of each item to give it a try. The plantain ended up in the trash, was very soggy and lot of oil underneath. The vegetable soup wasn’t bad. The Jollof rice is just basic and nothing smoky. (I expected Jollof rice to be better than that). The meat okra? I believe it was just mixed in a stew. Overall I did not enjoy the food. If you are hungry and looking for something to eat without observing the taste of a food, then go for it. If you have a thing for a good taste of food, good luck.

Best African food I have had in the DMV area. Chef John is also very nice and gives 5 star customer service. Packaging of the food is just beautiful. Overall I will not stop buying from him, 100% recommends!

Seafood okra with fufu, made fresh to order in under an hour. Perfectly spiced, good portion, nice presentation, still hot when I arrived home 45 minutes later. Would recommend catering services.

Wow I am in love with this food it is so delicious well prepared this food definitely needs to go global the portion size is wonderful he is not selfish with the meat he doesn’t even need to wrap the food in good presentation because the love he puts in his food shows.
