I recently visited Dong Chun Hong after a while, and it was so nice to be back. The owner is incredibly kind and generous, and you can really feel the warm hospitality.
We ordered the Guobaorou (crispy sweet and sour pork) based on the owner’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge, piled high like a mountain, and perfectly crispy on the outside while tender inside.
The Ganpoong Shrimp (Korean-style spicy garlic shrimp) was also excellent. The shrimp were surprisingly large, which made the texture even better. They were crispy, well coated in sauce, and full of flavor.
We had a great experience and will definitely be coming back with our family.

My hobby is to talk with my friend and eat delicious food once a week. After I first went to Dongchunhong a month ago I became a regular customer who only use this restaurant. The foods are delicious, the price is good, and the service is the best. Dongchunhong is the most beloved restaurant for me and my friend, who are immersed in the fun of choosing delicious food every time I go. I highly recommend it to everyone.

We had a great experience here. The service was wonderful and attentive, our meals came out in a timely manner, and the food was delicious with very generous portions. You can truly tell there have been major improvements since the change of ownership. It’s a warm, welcoming spot and a great place for family dinners. Highly recommend!

The first time we came here, it was during lunch and the place was PACKED.

This time, we went at 4pm and it was pretty empty.

I love getting the combos – it’s just like how it is in Korea.
It’s the perfect portion!
So far everything that I’ve gotten has been good with the exception of the jjajangmyun being a bit watery this time around.

i love this place sooo much, way better than Paik’s! i usually get the tangsuyuk/jjajangmyeon combo and my boyfriend gets the jjajangmyeon/jjamppong combo— both so so so good! the tangsuyuk is always so fresh with an initial crunch and the portion of the jjajangmyeon is just right! i usually can’t eat a lot because i get full quite easily but i down my combo FAST.

the people are also just so nice and have a cozy aura to them, which has translated to the space! definitely a must-go 🙂

Hands down the best Korean-Chinese restaurant in Dallas! We visit from Boston often, and this place is always a must — amazing food, warm service, and genuine kindness every time.

I was a little hesitant to try this place when I read a few negative reviews after a change in ownership. My wife and I decided to have lunch recently and we were very happy with the food and the service.

For lunch, we ordered the Combo #4 (which is half jajiangmyeon and half tangsuyuk) and the samsun ganjajiang (similar to jajiangmyeon but freshly made to order with sautéed seafood and lots of onions).

Everything was delicious. The jajiangmyeon was good with ample amount of gravy and noodles. The tangsuyuk was fried to a perfect crisp and was served with a dipping sauce on the side. The ganjajiang was the standout. The noodles were nicely chewy, sauce was less heavy, and had plenty of seafood pieces.

The self-serve condiment bar has the yellow radish, sliced raw onions, water, and the utensils.

For those of you who were hesitant due to a change in ownership should give them a try. We thought the food was delicious and the prices/portions were excellent.

Dong Chun Hong is a clean and honest self-service restaurant where you don’t feel pressured to tip. I really don’t understand the low ratings—once you try it, you’ll see how good it is. My favorites are the Jajangmyeon & Jjamppong combo and the Beef Brisket Jjamppong. Great food, fair prices, and straightforward service. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

Delicious, Self-Service, Better than Paik’s Noodle

My mom and I have been coming here occasionally for the past few months, and we were satisfied every time.

The food taste and portion size is good. The jjampong has more seafood than Paik’s Noodle around the corner. The tangsuyuk is crispy.

They have a special going on, which makes it an even better value.

It is located next to Wicked Snow. Self-service so tipping is optional.

Korean-style Chinese restaurants are very personal—every place tastes different depending on the chef’s skill and preferences, and most Koreans have a very specific “type” they love.
For me, this restaurant used to be that special place.

Despite being so far from Korea, it once perfectly captured the style of Korean-Chinese cuisine I love. I truly loved this place and visited consistently for about eight years. Unfortunately, after the ownership and kitchen staff changed, the quality dropped significantly. The jjajangmyeon became watery and poorly seasoned, the sweet and sour pork was terrible, and the rest of the dishes were too disappointing to even mention. Eventually, I stopped coming.

For the next year and a half, I went on a long journey trying to find a Chinese restaurant that suited my taste. I tried many places—famous chefs’ restaurants in Korea, including Baek Jong-won’s, were not bad but not memorable, and many newer Korean franchises were honestly quite disappointing.

Then, by chance, I visited this place again—and I was genuinely surprised.

The food has improved dramatically. The jjajangmyeon was excellent—almost perfect, aside from the chunjang being slightly strong. The sweet and sour pork was very good, and the other dishes were solid and well-prepared.
If I had to point out one small detail, the yusanseul would be even better with a slightly stronger starch consistency to finish the dish.

Overall, the seasoning was well-balanced and the flavors were clean and harmonious. It came very close to the Korean-Chinese food I used to love back in Korea. Most importantly, after a long journey of searching, I finally feel like I can stop looking for my favorite Chinese restaurant.

It was a genuinely happy experience, and I sincerely hope this restaurant continues to maintain this level of quality.
