Nestled in the heart of downtown, this charming establishment reveals itself as a true culinary gem. From the moment you step inside, the warmth and sincerity of the staff set the tone for an experience that feels both welcoming and genuine. Kudos to our server Laura M.
The kitchen demonstrates a thoughtful balance of comfort and craftsmanship. The chicken salad sandwich was delicately prepared, with tender poultry folded into a creamy yet refreshing blend, offering both texture and flavor in perfect harmony. Paired alongside was the soup of the day—an aromatic chicken vegetable broth brimming with garden-fresh ingredients, each spoonful a testament to homestyle tradition elevated with finesse.
Equally impressive was the Reuben sandwich, a classic executed with precision. The corned beef was succulent, layered generously with tangy sauerkraut and Swiss cheese, all pressed between perfectly toasted rye. The accompanying potato salad was understated yet satisfying, its subtle seasoning allowing the natural richness of the potatoes to shine.
Every element of the meal spoke to a commitment to quality and authenticity. It is rare to encounter a place where simplicity is treated with such reverence, and here, each dish resonates with both heart and skill. Truly, an experience that leaves one eager to return.

My experience was amazing. We were served by this nice lady named Val . She was so nice and the time was 12:00 and the breakfast service had just ended but she convinced the cook to make my daughter a pancake even though breakfast ended. The atmospher was liberating and the food was so delicious
I would recommend this place a thousand times.

Great food and service. Really cool old-school diner feel with lots of menu options. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the Gyro Wrap and Meatball Sub. We will definitely be coming back!

The service here is on point and it’s a cool little place to eat. Don’t have to ask for refills and everything was fine in a timing manner. The food isn’t anything special just your normal run of the mill place to grab a quick bite. The biscuits are pretty good and gravy is just ok, not too much flavor though. I did enjoy the grits as I have had some pretty horrendous grits before lol, these were tasty. The other person who went with me got an Arnold Palmer and she said it was perfectly made as well as the parfait. I don’t think I’d return but it was worth the trip.

Across the Street Diner is located in an historic building that housed Hashop’s Pharmacy, established in 1905. The original hexagonal floor is still there and many other features from the soda fountain. Some of the menu items pay homage to the original business. We were there for lunch. Be sure you order the French fries! They’re hot, crisp and delicious. I had the Reuben sandwich with my fries. It was just right. It was fresh off the grill with tasty ingredients. Where this eatery falls short is dessert. They are definitely not up to the standards of this marvelous restaurant. They tasted old, dry and had the flavor of refrigerator case. I noticed the portions were very small, which probably accounts for sweets hanging around past their prime. I highly recommend the sandwiches on the lunch menu. Service was great and the atmosphere is charming. Overall fun, casual and tasty. But hard pass on desert.

So good! We happened to find this cute gem on our way back into Dallas. Loved the charm of the building and the food. It was so relaxed. Lots of locals were in having lunch when we stopped by. Also didn’t know the story of Wolf Brand Chili so that was fun! We each got a different meal. Sloppy Joes, Patty melt I think and kids meals. Plus a couple slices of cake. Super enjoyable!

This place is amazing!!! This was my first time here, and it was a great experience. I did visit like 20 minutes before lunch started, but they were so kind to allow me to order a salad. I ordered the Greek salad and a sweet tea. This salad looked like the chef placed one item at a time on this dish. It looked so professional. The blend of dressing was just right, and the chicken was tender. To include the staff were all very hospitable and my waitress Hailey was the best. She checked on me a few times, which was just perfect and has the kindest personality. The music was on point, my kinda music. This place is so extravagant inside and out. I will be returning for breakfast and lunch to try some different dishes.
