Terrible experience. Reached at 4:15pm, got my idly and dosa (first order of the evening) at 5:15pm. Asked for no-oil and got double oil roasted dosa. Time estimates were off by 2x. If they cannot start delivering food at 4pm, they should either update their timings or start preparing material an hour before. Idly here is totally exaggerated but the chutneys are great.

Good place for tiffin. In a plate there are 4 idlis. Idlis are super soft. Three varieties of chutney served – ginger, coconut and lentil plus sambar. Very tasty and sumptuous. In addition to Idli, you can order south Indian filter coffee. Quality is good. It’s open only in the evening and can see sizeable customers.

Visited Babai Idli at the Lathrop Food Court a few days back what an amazing experience! The idlis and chutneys truly reminded me of enjoying idlis in India after a very long time. Their chutneys green chili, ginger, and coconut are absolutely finger-licking. The sambar has an authentic tiffin-style flavor, rich with lentils and vegetables, and beautifully seasoned with fresh ghee. Their homemade ghee smells heavenly! If you’re looking for the perfect place to relish authentic idlis and chutneys, there’s only one name: Babai Idli.

Babai Idly has most delicious Idlys. We enjoyed every bite of idly with ghee. Their podi, chutneys and Sambar are highly flavorful. If you are a spice lover, do try their Pachimirapakaya chutney.
Also, it’s been so long that I had freshly made coconut chutney. Oh my! It was so perfect.
Looking forward to have Idlys often.

On a cold and windy evening, Babai Idli felt like a warm hug. The idlis were impossibly soft — like little clouds made with love — and the dosas were crisp, fresh, and full of flavor. Their filter coffee was rich and comforting, just perfect for the weather.
What made it even more special was the kindness of the owner — she went out of her way to do a little extra for my little one, and you could truly feel that same warmth and care in every dish.
Babai Idli isn’t just a food truck; it’s a reminder of home, love, and the simple joys of life. A 5-star experience all the way!

I am very new to this food cart location in Lathrop at the far end is Babai Idli. The food was vegetarian and very good. They explained all of the food the crepes with lentils were so warm and tasty. It was pretty stormy weather and I was cold. The staff took care of me and fed me well. I will be back. They are on their way to filling other souls with tasty food

I had a really disappointing experience at Babai Idli. First off, the service was incredibly slow—we waited over an hour for our food with no real explanation or updates from the staff. On top of that, I had clearly mentioned food limitations while placing the order, but they were completely ignored. The Dosa came so oily I had explicitly asked to avoid. The masala in the Dosa is runny. It felt like they weren’t paying attention or just didn’t care. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting decent service or consideration for their food preferences.

Love that they are bringing new community to the Food plaza but i got three issues
1. Hygiene : the cook came out wearing gloves touched everything, drank her tea and then went back cooking again. Why wear gloves????
2. Service: I ordered coffee she calls my name 5 times and then say wait 2 min. Someone came and she started talking. Why did u call my name I was sitting right there? Give me my damn coffee . Btw coffee was mediocre at best
3. Presentation : they gave my dine in order in a box. My dosa was soo soggy. I can imagine that dosa to be ok but only in my imagination . the dosa and chunty was weird.
Please do not waste time a d money here
