We are staying at the lodge and it was convenient to eat here. The food was fresh and delicious. We had the fried chicken dinner, fish and chips, eggplant Parmesan (pasta night) and the Chicken Waldorf salad. We also had the spinach salad with strawberries and blueberries, goat cheese and candied pecans. The waitress did a great job with all of us.

We recently visited this charming restaurant offering local cuisine, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The highlight of the meal was the river trout — incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and delicately seasoned. You can tell they really know how to prepare fish here.
The service was excellent — the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They were always available when needed, without being intrusive.

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that reflects the local character. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and enjoy your meal in comfort.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic local flavors in a cozy and welcoming setting. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Everything was beautiful the band, the employees and the food plus our drinks were exceptional. It was my birthday weekend and cabin #5 is beautiful. Calamari and the bread ring was fresh and delicious.

Sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Ordered the daily soup which was pea soup. I was skeptical about it but the soup was so good. I was surprised but in the best way possible. Ordered the meatloaf to go. It was also very good. Only thing I regret is now having any of the gravy from the meatloaf on the dirty rice I ordered. Both the dirty rice and Mac n cheese were delicious as well

This place is tucked away and you wouldn’t even know it’s back in a residential area unless you go looking for it, but it’s a must see! The building and ambiance are absolutely beautiful. They have a large indoor dining area, bar area, and outdoor back patio seating with a beautiful view of the creek. The food and service were excellent. My mom and I sat outside because it was a nice evening, and we both got The Flying Trout dish. I’m looking forward to going back with the rest of our family!

I will be as positive as I can. This is our second time here. in Oct 2025 it was good. Today 03/07/2026 was disappointing. Emily the server was great !. The harvest salad with apple vinegarette dressing is actually made with mustard. all you could taste was mustard. waitress said they forgot to shake up the dressing.
Coleslaw also has mustard in it. order fish and chips, the tarter sause has mustard in it. The chef must love mustard. The manager said none of it should have mustard. she thanked us for telling her. The brussel sprouts are always cold, every visit. The potato pedals were cold. green beans were fantastic, the bread was very good. the waitress offered a free dessert, we opted for bread pudding and that was a bad choice as the kitchen served it right out of the refrigerator. I believe they are better than this, and tonight was not great after spending 140.00 for dinner.

We had dinner here the night before my mom’s birthday. We have family who live nearby in Blairsville so they met us for dinner. The food was outstanding, but the service left something to be desired. Our server, Sam, came off as rude and basically a jerk. I think he was trying to be funny, but it was very off putting. He also had black dirt all around his fingernails which I noticed as he handed me my drink. But back to the food! I had a blackened grilled chicken salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, avocado and bacon with their ranch dressing. It was the best salad I’ve had in a long time. My mom and Uncle both got the shrimp scampi pasta and it was also very delicious. My aunt had a cheeseburger with potato chips and she enjoyed her food as well. Overall it was a nice dinner. We also got to see an emu who escaped from a neighbor’s property and wandered over towards the restaurant ‍♀️

Atmosphere and service were great. Food was extremely disappointing. I got the Bunkhouse Grilled Cheese. There was a single piece of cheese on one side of the bread- the other side was completely dry so I removed it. The cheese was not melted at all. There was a small fried green tomato on each half of bread and some bacon. The whole thing was cold.
When you order a grilled cheese at a restaurant, you expect something warm and gooey. This was awful. I didn’t even finish it. The other people in my party were displeased as well. The Philly was mostly bread with dry meat and the Brisket sandwich was mostly slaw with little meat. The prices are very high for such terrible food.

Flying Trout Restaurant

My mother recently passed away, and we were searching for the right place to host her funeral luncheon. We tried several restaurants in Blairsville, but either they couldn’t accommodate us or the experience didn’t feel appropriate for honoring such a wonderful woman. We wanted the setting to truly reflect her life and spirit.

My aunt spoke with Melissa at Flying Trout, and from the very beginning she was exceptional. When I stopped by to discuss table setup and connecting a laptop, she immediately stopped what she was doing and personally came over to help. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail meant more than she probably knows.

I spent over 30 years working in restaurants and country clubs in nearly every position, so I understand how challenging it can be to serve a group of 20+ people during an emotional gathering where guests are moving around, talking, and grieving. Melissa and her team handled everything with absolute grace. The waitstaff was patient, sympathetic, and genuinely caring throughout the entire event.

The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the service was impeccable. It brought comfort to our family during a very difficult time, and I truly believe my mother would have been pleased with how beautifully everything was handled.

My heart is full of gratitude. Thank you to Melissa and the entire Flying Trout team for making a hard day a little easier.

Father’s Day Dinner at The Flying Trout – Disappointing Experience

We had a 7 PM reservation for four and arrived early to a beautiful setting—lovely landscaping, a welcoming building, and a great live band on the patio. Unfortunately, the experience quickly declined.

We weren’t seated until after 7:10, despite checking in and telling the hostess where we’d be. Service was extremely slow—our first appetizer arrived over an hour after ordering, and entrees didn’t come until after 9 PM. Drinks were inconsistent (a mojito mocktail was just club soda and mint), and food quality was poor. Our “surf and turf” came out wrong, the lobster was overcooked, and the steaks were under-seasoned.

The server did her best under pressure, but the management failed to handle the busy night. Long waits, poor communication, and underwhelming food turned what should’ve been a special Father’s Day into a three-hour disappointment.

We were eventually comped all but $54 and tipped generously out of empathy for the server—but at $281 before discount, this was not fine dining quality. The space has potential, but operations and leadership need serious improvement.
