The only japanese ramen house in Bloomington and it is a favorite among students and locals. It is a very busy restaurant, so it’s better to make a reservation in advance as it is not easy to get a table. The interior is unique and well-decorated, with plenty of items on the menu. Since we came in a group, we ordered various appetizers and ramen. The service is a bit slow, but we enjoyed chatting while waiting for our order. This place is great for groups too.
I particularly enjoyed the garlic ramen. The broth was bold and flavorful. The spicy ramen was also good and not too spicy. The chicken karaage was delicious, the chuka ika was okay, the gyoza was average, and the beef tongue was yummy.

Hibachi Chicken/Beef was terrible! There was an evil aura emanating from the rice… It stank!!!!!!!! It tastes like someone tried to make mac n cheese with rice and forgot to add the cheese packet. Also it was really oil like the rice in oil. It’s like they put expired bouillon in the rice. But the atmosphere and our waiter were very welcoming. I’m disappointed in this food, however, my friend’s ramen was very good.

Love this place mainly for the service and atmosphere. They do have a great option for sushi, ramen, hibachi but are often out of sushi options. They have inexpensive cocktail options and periodic karaoke events.

Did not like the ramen as a connoisseur. Same with most of their stuff. The drinks were good though!
Really pretty place but I do not like country music. They have live music but its super close to you so it’s crazy loud, and there’s this cool projector that rarely projects (not sure if you have to connect to it) pretty visuals. Even if it’s not super meaningful I prefer it to complete darkness, silence, and country music.
Very nice servers though. Feel bad giving it such low reviews for that, but their menu was lacking in options for Ramen and most of their other options were mediocre. I get it’s mostly bar like food but when your best food is your pre packaged crab Rangoons, you’re doing something wrong. Especially since it’s not cheap.

This place was amazing! I wasn’t overstimulated by a loud atmosphere or anything, food was downright amazing and they gave us a free item when the sushi wasn’t able to come out! Will so be coming again!

The food, service, and price here are all good. I loved the hibachi steak and ramen dishes. This place generally nails the Neo Tokyo vibe. However, the uncensored rap music played on an extremely cheap speaker really subtracts from the overall atmosphere.

Delicious ramen!!! I was sad they didn’t serve Orion beer anymore, but apparently no one knew what it was so they got rid of it. It’s a beer from Okinawa, Japan and is delicious. Having lived in Japan for four years, my expectations were very high, and this didn’t disappoint. My kids LOVED the kochi ice cream and we ordered multiple plates. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for some ramen.

My girlfriend and I have been here maybe 30 times in the past year alone. The servers are family!! So chill. If you want a comfortable, consistent experience with some comfort food you will crave, come to Yatagarasu. Most visited restaurant for me in Bloomington. I don’t crave anything else in this town. I cook everything except the twice a month we go here the green noodles (kale?) are taste perfect as I cannot have gluten/wheat noodles. My go-to order is miso spicy with green noodles and extra pork chashu.
The Tozai and Boshido sakes are our go tos
