Upscale restaurant in the historic Parker House Hotel serving New England fare in a formal setting.

Old school hotel restaurant with white table cloths. We came for the boston cream pie and it did not disappoint. This restaurant is apparently where this dish was created. It was a little light on the cream filling but the cake was good and almond coating gave a nice bit of texture. This restaurant is full of history and definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

I tried the Boston cream pie (4/5) here, and while the flavor was decent, it wasn’t particularly memorable or distinctive, and was quite small. What truly stood out, however, was the overall ambiance of the place. The hotel boasts a really nice vibe, making it a pleasant and enjoyable spot to relax and unwind. I appreciated the comfortable setting, which definitely enhanced the experience beyond just the dessert.

Beautiful space with comfortable seats. Their one dessert, the Boston creme pie, is nothing short of amazing and one of the best desserts I’ve had. Food is okay. You know how some places try to get fancy and horseshoe around to not very tasty? Anyway. Would return anytime.

This place was amazing! The restaurant is gorgeous and the service was great. The chicken breast was phenomenal with a mushroom sauce that was wonderfully different than anything I’ve had before. The boston cream pie was very good as well. The parker house rolls served on the table were great. I would absolutely eat here again.

We stopped here to taste the Parker House Rolls and Boston crème pie. Both were outstanding as well as the clam chowder, lobster roll and scoda. Service was exceptional. We ended up sitting at table 40 which is where JFK proposed. Wow…. Just Wow!

Bucket list visit – I wanted to try the original Parker House Roll and the Boston Cream Pie. The roll – amazing, and most places I’ve had a parker house roll only dream of being this good. The pie, not a pie, more of a… cupcake, and a bit lacking in the wonderful creamy filling that I was hoping for – good, but no wow there. The rest of breakfast was quite good, but also no wows. Service was impeccable. The space is stunning. Pricey.

Had to stop in to try a piece of the “original” Boston Cream Pie (BCP).
In total the experience was “okay”.
Went for lunch on a weekday. The atmosphere can feel a little stuffy. The place was nearly empty, so we got seated right. The server was efficient, but not overly friendly. We ordered some ice teas. We got a basket of Parker Rolls, these were warm, yeasty and pleasure to eat.
We ordered a few items including: Clam Chowder, very thick and a little too salty. A Frittata that didn’t seem very fresh, and was overly dense, and a waldorf salad that was pretty good.
We shared a pie of the pie, which is not a wedge slice, but made for a single serving, round, and coated with almonds. It was a bit dry and just “okay”. So now we know, go somewhere else if you are looking for a better piece of BCP.
Glad that we stopped in to check it out.

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN ahead of time! Parking in Downtown Boston is extremely limited, so if you’re not staying at the hotel, be prepared for a pricey valet. We popped in just to try the famous Boston Cream Pie — and while it turned out to be the most expensive pie I’ve ever purchased (a grand total of $56 thanks to $40 parking!), it was absolutely worth it.
The pie itself was around $13 and honestly so delicious I could’ve eaten two and still wanted more. Beyond the pie, the hotel’s history is incredible, and even though we didn’t stay there, the atmosphere was beautiful — elegant yet welcoming. The staff, including the valet team, were friendly and professional, which made the visit even better.
Pro tip: you can also order the Boston Cream Pie to go — either in a full size or a personal portion — from the Starbucks inside the hotel. Still, I’d recommend dining in and tipping the wait staff; the experience is part of the charm.
I did forget to grab the Parker Rolls (my only regret!), but that just gives me a reason to come back next time. ✨

If you ask for Parker House rolls they will bring you some and they are incredible! Like no other roll you have had. So definitely try that. The Boston Cream Pie was also perfection. Pretzel french toast is also worth a try. The salt v sweet is delicious. Excellent, friendly staff made us feel very welcome.

Out of this world breakfast in a location full of history.
The Parker rolls and boston cream pie were both invented here and are a must try.
I also suggest the corn beef and hash. While not as impressive as the rolls or pie, it was great.
The orange juice is fresh squeezed and unlimited refills.
The coffee wasn’t the best, especially company to the numerous shops in the vicinity.
