We went Saturday afternoon, quite a few of us. I gotta say I was hoping to have delicious brisket and was terribly disappointed, no flavor and pretty tough and dry, (im used to biting into brisket with juice and fall apart) I choose the 2 meat option with brisket and burnt ends, the burnt ends were tasty. Mac n Cheese is nothing to rave about and the corn bread which another of my favorites was so dry it was hard to swallow it.
My hubby had a full rack of ribs and said they were pretty good he also wasn’t impressed with the Mac n cheese. This was our first visit there and probably be our last.
The portions was small and pricey.
I was so hoping to love this place. No not the outcome I was looking forward to.

This is a takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the vehicle. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and a meatball sandwich with fries. The sandwich was exceptional. Great flavor, lots of food, an overall winner. The pizza was very good but I would have liked the crust to have a little bit of crisp on the bottom. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 8.4.

Food was spot on. I loved the brick oven pizza. Black dog is one of my favorite places to eat as I know I am always gonna have a great meal. I regretfully left my leftover pizza on the table and wanted to cry when I realized it upon returning home. I was really looking forward to a second helping.

We visited on Father’s Day without a reservation. The hostess told us there was a 45 minute wait, and having two children with us under 7 we decided to look for another spot. As we discussed outside where to go, a young man approached us and said he could seat us immediately. He showed us to what appeared to be a small banquet room, assigned us a wonderful waitress and we had our dinner quickly. Everything was excellent. I do not know who this angel of mercy was, but thank you. Both the food and his actions left a very pleasant taste in our mouths and our minds.

The staff was amazing! They had my favorite pumpkin cider on tap. We just didn’t really care for the food. I had a Margherita pizza. It was soggy underneath & you couldn’t really taste the basil. I could see it was in there but the flavor wasn’t very noticeable. Didn’t care for the pizza sauce. My husband had the burnt ends & brisket with Mac & Cheese and corn bread. The corn bread was flavorful but dry. The burnt ends were excellent the brisket was just okay and a bit dry in spots. No viseble smoke ring. The Mac & cheese wasn’t great. That being said, the garlic cheesy bread was amazing! We didn’t say anything at the time because it was a Saturday night and the place was jam packed! We’d still go again and try something different.

We had been given the wrong appetizer once instead of taking it back they let us keep it, and gave us the correct appetizer at no charge for either with no request for any of that service from us. That to me makes a restaurant stand out above the rest.
We drive 40 mins to get here atleast twice a month. It really is that good

Always busy. Food is ok. Had ribs that were fatty. Just had the pizza that seemed like it was made hours ago. Not fresh. Service is always excellent.
