I ordered the 15-person catering tray for $105 from Carnitas El Rincon in Stockton. The food itself was good. The carnitas were tender and seasoned well, and the rice and beans tasted fine. Unfortunately, the service and presentation fell far below expectations.
When I asked about tortillas and a drink, I was told that “they don’t participate in that,” even though the Hayward location includes tortillas and even a 2-liter soda with meals that cost a fraction of this price. That alone was disappointing, but it didn’t stop there.
They showed me the rice tray at pickup, but they never showed me the beans, which now I understand was likely because they were skimping. The beans and rice were placed frugally in the foil containers, nowhere near the generous portions you would expect when feeding 15 people. The salsa they advertised as medium was barely enough for two people.
What made this worse is that the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Only one person was ahead of me, so the rushed or careless service can’t be blamed on a crowd.
Bottom line: the food is great, but the Stockton location really needs to step up and match the service and value that Hayward provides. With the current experience, it’s hard to recommend coming back.

Fantastic delicious food. They do have a full range of meats, but why would you prefer anything other than carnitas at a restaurant named Carnitas? Ask for some of the yellow salsa of they don’t give it to you and try it alone or mixed with the brown sauce. The sauces are pretty hot but you can put out that fire with more salsa.

Ordered a super burrito de carnitas and a burrito regular de carnitas. More like bean and rice burritos. Tasted good. Super didn’t have cream, avocado or cheese, but had more bones than I’d like to admit.

I am so bummed that the service is so terrible. I enjoy their burritos and salsa, but every time I go, they mess up my order, give me attitude, and aren’t friendly. The burrito is not worth the rude service and headache.

The carnitas are great. I ordered mixed canitas with refried beans and jalapeños Burrito it was huge for those who can eat i really recommend it oh and price is well worth it. Definitely going again.
