Pal Antojo Mexican Food – Authentic Flavors in Mississauga
Reviews
Was not expecting much but was proved wrong from the get go .
Firstly what catches your eye is the authentic Mexican decor and also the hospitality of the staff working here.
Opted for the buffet on a Saturday afternoon for $35 which included a choice of two drinks and coffee , the main courses and desserts (lost a point as there was not much)
Service was excellent ! Food was fresh and a great choice between fish, pork and chicken and a delicious soup too! The condiments were delicious to complete any dish along with the sauces which I am assuming are made by them.
They have a bar too with some Mexican drinks and mixers.
Btw they also sell some Mexican candies, sauces and snacks,
Loads of parking.
Def worth a drive to try this hidden Mexican restaurant
I asked for veggie options, but they told me they don’t really have any — the only thing they could offer was mushrooms. I agreed and placed my order. About five minutes later, I went back and asked if they could make it with very little rice. She said okay and went to the kitchen.
Just a few minutes later, she came back out with the burrito already made. She didn’t say anything — no explanation, no confirmation, no mention that my request couldn’t be accommodated.
I took the burrito to my car and started eating it, only to realize they hadn’t adjusted it at all. It was filled with rice, rice, and more rice, plus some mushrooms. No other veggies, no flavor, no balance — just a heavy, bland wrap packed with plain rice.
There was no communication, no effort to clarify, and no attempt to fix it. I was really looking forward to enjoying some Mexican food, but this was just disappointing.
Do you fancy authentic Mexican food? Pa’l Antojo has you covered!!!
My family and I have been Pa’l Antojo’s customers for several years now (both at their restaurant and for catering, and they never miss. The food is always excellent—authentic, fresh, and full of flavor every single time. Beyond the menu, the restaurant is always spotless, and a little part of Mexico, which I really appreciate. The staff is incredibly nice and makes you feel like family the moment you walk in. It’s a great atmosphere and my favorite Mexican spot in Mississauga hands down.
When the order was delivered (the time we were going to serve the food) the tortillas came slightly frozen in the package meaning we had to warm them up…mind you this was never mentioned when we placed the order or we would of been better prepared. We tried our best to warm them up but the tortillas keep falling apart on our guests and ruined the true authentic Mexican cuisine experience. Not to mention even the limes that were delivered weren’t cut we had to cut them ourselves. The whole purpose of catering is to make it easier not harder especially with so many guests.
Before I make any google review I always like to reach out to the establishment to give them an opportunity to make things right. An apology with a small gesture like a meal on us or will throw something in on your next catering order would have made me feel like they care. However when I reached out I was told that’s how the tortillas come it’s hard for them to stay warm. After explaining my frustration still nothing was getting resolved I was told they are a family run business and can’t afford to give things away so it’s lead me here. We all work hard for our money and we paid a lot of money for this catering $700+ we cant afford to pay this money to not have the food the way it should be.
So I’m just warning you all incase they don’t provide you full transparency… that you have to warm up your tortillas when they come or you can pay $200 service fee for them to come warm them up and serve the food.
I will say that other than that the food was good but the overall experience has left a bad taste from ordering again.
The food was absolutely delicious — full of authentic Mexican flavors and perfectly prepared. Every dish we ordered was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. We didn’t have to wait long at all; everything came out quickly and exactly as we ordered it.
Another thing that really stood out was how clean and well-kept the restaurant was. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal.
I’m already looking forward to coming back. If you’re craving real Mexican food with great service and a welcoming vibe, Pal Antojo is definitely worth a visit!
Ate at their brand new food truck at Nathan Philips square on Mexican Independence weekend celebration.
All staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and hands down, THE VERY BEST Mexican food served at the festival!
One could tell the food was made with “heart”!
The portion sizes were better than any other truck I have eaten from, the taste was very authentic Mexican and mouthwatering, the presentation was superb and made me realize that they actually DO CARE , and the prices were great!
The horchata was absolutely THE BEST ever found in Toronto!!
I, along with friends and family, will definitely visit the restaurant.
It was a terrific find at the festival, and I wish you the very greatest of success with the truck and continued success with the restaurant and catering!! Buenos suertes!! ️
