The lamb thali was excellent and came with rice, garlic naan, dal, and saag paneer. The lamb was tender, savory and well spiced but not spicy. Portion size was generous, especially for the price. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a nice spot for dinner if you’re staying a hotel nearby

Recommend! Fantastic, very reasonably priced food. Friendly and helpful staff. Our party had an app and 4 different mains with naan- everything was delicious. My only regret is not saving room to try a desert.

If you’re in downtown SFO and craving Indian or Nepali food, DIYA is definitely worth a visit. I’m just a traveler who was staying at the Timbri Hotel next door and decided to stop in for lunch and I’m so glad I did! The food was filling, flavorful, and satisfying; I truly enjoyed every single bit of it. The prices on the menu are reasonable and the person serving us was very polite and friendly. I can’t remember his name but he said he is from Nepal.
The ambiance feels comforting, though I do think there’s potential to enhance it even more. That said, it’s ultimately the food that matters most, and DIYA delivers on that front. I’ll definitely be back here the next time I’m in San Francisco. A must-visit spot if you’re into Indian or Nepali cuisine!

I love Indian food. This restaurant is one of the best I have tasted. The owner is Nepalis, very attentive and gregarious. I had the shrimp curry with Naan bread. The flavor was excellent, with just the right level of spiciness, as I ordered medium spicy. The interior is simple, but you don’t come here for ambience. I have two more nights in SF and plan to go back one more time.

Diya Indian & Nepali Cuisine exceeded expectations. The Veg Samosas and Chicken Momos were wonderful, each bite bursting with flavor. The accompanying chutney was amazing. The service was top-notch, making it a delightful dining experience overall. Highly recommend!

Great Indian restaurant for lunch, though located near the Tenderloin and had shady folks stalking the entrance. Service was good and courteous, the food was excellent. Lots of veg and non-veg options.

I have been here for almost 10 times for the past year. The food is INCREDIBLE and the owner is the best person I have met from SF. Would strongly recommend to everyone who is considering what to eat, wouldn’t go wrong from ordering these choices.

I recently had surgery on my esophagus, so I can’t eat chilis or black pepper. Honestly I shouldn’t have gone to an Indian restaurant in the first place, but I was invited by some friends.
I explained my situation when I ordered and asked if I could order dal without chilis or spices, and they told me they could. But when they brought out my dal, it was spicy and had full black peppercorns in it. They also messed up my friend’s order and forgot our appetizers.
