I had a pulled pork sandwich with side salad, others in my party had club sandwich with onion rings, the fried fish platter and the chicken salad. All was fantastic. We stop here often when we go up the trace.

The food was pretty good. The employees were quite friendly. However, the service and decor were lacking. Considering the area has rustic and log cabin theming, this place sticks out with a modern look. The walls are full of blank spaces just bland. But the thing that still out the most is the slow and dismissive service. For example. While we were at our table, the line at the register was all the way to the door. at least 3 or 4 groups. There were tables available, but they were unbussed and the waitresses passed by them a few times. The table next to us was left uncleared for a whole 25 minutes. and the manager was the one to clear it, not the actual employees. In the time it took to get tables cleared and actual seat customers, that those waiting in line to be seated had already left. So that is a loss of business that was 100% preventable. It makes no sense to not clear tables and seat customers. Makes one wonder how much business and profit is lost from lack of employee awareness.
We were seated, and our orders taken…got our drinks fairly quickly. Food took a bit longer, which was to be expected, except that we were seated where we could actually see into the kitchen and see our food sitting there on the counter plated and ready to bring out…but ignored for a larger order. Then they bring our order out and it was the last time we saw a waitress for a long time. I was over halfway through my meal when someone finally came to ask if i needed a refill. My mother, who was with me, was never asked if she wanted a refill, not once. So, then we finish eating and have to wait for a check…this is when we thought to time and see how long it actually took to clear a table since we had nothing else to do. 25 Minutes later and we still didn’t have a ticket. Then they finally bring a ticket, and omg, they asked if we wanted drinks to bring home, and if we needed anything else…I was wondering where was all this attention and hospitality when we were actually eating?
It’s a real shame because if this place would get their customer service together and actually get tables cleared off, they would make so much more business. Friendly employees & Good food are wasted with poor service. The decor is less of an issue but still adds to the underwhelming experience. If it wasn’t for personal nostalgia, I would have no reason to ever go back.

Atmosphere was perfect and the food was great. Wanted to try so many things but decided to go with a sandwich which was perfect on the homemade bread. Will definitely go back every time I’m in the area.

My wife and I had the blue plate special for the day which consisted of barbecue chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, and peach cobbler. We love the meal. Our server Savannah was charming and kind. We loved the butcher block paper on the tables. It really added a special touch for me. There was a nice gift shop in the house and we took advantage of that as well. All this proceeds went to help with the childrens home there. One sure fire way to tell if you are at a good restaurant is to check out the restrooms. They were extremely clean. That means that the kitchen must be clean. We were very pleased with our experience at the council house. Great job by the entire staff.

Friend said the cheeseburger and Mississippi Mud Cake were the best ever had. My catfish plate (cornmeal/corn flour breaded) was similarly outstanding. Very sweet wait staff do a great job. There is also a gift shop with crafts and interesting food items for sale (i.e., frog jam, apple butter, cookies, chocolates). The setting can’t be beat! Highly recommend this stop on the gorgeous, historic Natchez Trace.

What a wonderful spot! Right off the Trace, this seemingly small spot opens into a beautiful eating area with a cozy fireplace and dreamy outdoor seating option. The BLT and Club are set apart from all the others you’ve had because they use homemade bread and a house garlic mayo. We subbed onion rings and they might be the best I’ve ever eaten! I would also 100% recommend the broccoli salad- just try it and then go to the gift shop and buy the recipe cards!

We arrived to French Camp on a Saturday evening – knowing that Council House was our only option for a restaurant. It didn’t disappoint! I ordered the Toasted Pimento Cheese Sandwich with a side salad. My husband ordered the roast beef po boy with fries. Both were good! and just the right amount of food for dinner. We also had the cheese curds for an appetizer. Desserts were Mississippi mud cake and lemon icebox pie – OH SO GOOD!

A great stop along the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway. The restaurant was added on to a historic building, so there is plenty of room for guests. There is outdoor eating available on a deck, but I’ve never sat outside. There are separate lunch and dinner menus. At lunch on a weekday, I enjoyed the catfish po-boy with broccoli salad, which was tasty and filling. Diners pay in the gift shop, which offers regional foods (jams, etc.) and a good selection of pottery items made by local students and other crafted items. There is plenty of parking and an accessibility ramp as well as stairs leading into the restaurant.

Lunch has to be better than dinner. We have always enjoyed lunch here. But tonight we watched people get up and walk out. Their drink orders were never taken. So if you go for lunch it’s great. Dinner is subpar at best
