I’ve been a loyal customer of A-Roi in Nashville, I’ve always ordered their crab fried rice or shrimp fried rice. I’ve continued to be a loyal customer despite times to where the hostess being on the phone the entire time, ignoring you when you arrive and or not coming back to provide refills on the drink. However, I recently had an unfortunate experience with my takeout order from last week this time.

The crab fried rice was delicious, but when I arrived back in Memphis, I discovered that I had been served just fried rice instead of the shrimp fried rice I had ordered. I hadn’t realized this before I left the restaurant but immediately called the restaurant.

The restaurant representative informed me that they would need to discuss the issue with the chef. Then asked if I had checked the bottom of the bowl to see if there were any shrimp, as the lunch only comes with a limited number of shrimp. I informed her that I would be willing to send a picture of the bowl to verify my observation.

To make matters worse, she informed me that adding shrimp to the lunch special rice was only an additional $2, as if I shouldn’t be complaining about the order missing the shrimp.

When I requested a full refund for the complete order, I was told that I would receive a phone call back. Unfortunately, I missed the call at 10 pm that night because I had fallen asleep.

I was deeply disappointed by the customer service and will likely not return to A-Roi due to this experience. However, I must admit that the food is still good but my advice is to make sure you check the accuracy of your order before leaving the restaurant.

I had a great experience at Aroi by Smiley Thai! The ambiance was so nice and the scenery inside the restaurant was beautiful. It really sets the mood the moment you walk in. The drinks were good, the food was amazing, and the overall vibe is perfect for a night out. The service was great as well. Everything felt relaxing and enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back!

Came back here twice for amazing food. Very authentic Asian flavor! Strongly recommend for real Asian food

I was born and raised from Asian countries so I’m pretty picky. This restaurant meets my expectation, 10/10 for the food.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. You enter through a single entrance where the exterior door opens into a vestibule that houses two soft arm chairs for folks to comfortably wait while their food or table is being prepared. After the vestibule is another door that leads inside the restaurant, where a hostess stand waits with a hostess that seats your party. There is a full bar off to the right, immediately. As you proceed deeper into the spacious dining room, there is a large sushi bar on your right. It is very visible so you can watch sushi being made, it’s very clean and light/bright. The dining room has great ambiance, as the lighting is low, but not so low that it’s difficult to see the menu. The style is modern chic minimalist that is warmed up with a fair amount of wood finished in a warm honey tone and live plants potted throughout. The dining room isn’t loud like many can be…which makes conversation here enjoyable and easy. The service was (both times we went while in town on vacation) polite, efficient, knowledgable, kind and spoke of servers that know how to provide silent service without being imposing in the slightest. The food was some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. That includes the food I had in Thailand when visiting. The flavors have a wonderful depth that is a seamless blend of balanced rich spices, umami, salt, slightly sweet and light yet creamy. We got the Red Curry with Chicken (and added tofu) and the Khao Soi (medium spicy & creamy curry soup with noodles and boneless dark meat chicken) and added tofu. The plating is gorgeous and thoughtfully executed. The restaurant has great attention to detail. I noticed the iced tea was better quality than the standard iced tea is at most restaurants. The chopsticks are of a much better quality than any other Asian restaurant I’ve been to (and I go back to Taiwan regularly to see all of my family on my mom’s side, as they still live there). They’re disposable but finished in a warm oak stain, with smoothed finished exterior and a very nice length and weight to them. The attention to detail even extended to the bathroom, which was beyond spotless. Many Asian restaurants have bathrooms that are a little icky. Not so here, which gives me comfort to know the kitchen is also likely spotless and clean. We had such a great experience the first time we ate dinner here that we returned a couple nights later… and that is on a trip where we only had four days in town. It was that positive of an experience. The only possible detractor: The parking is a little scarce – it appears that the parking is only parallel parking on the street in front of the building. There may or may might be parking allowed on the side streets but I wouldn’t know for sure as we were able to find a parallel parking spot both times. Definitely give this place a try! You won’t regret it.

Great food, a lovely ambience, and truly impeccable service. We ordered the crab fried rice and it was amazing—the crab was so fresh and practically melted in your mouth. My husband enjoyed the wonton soup, and we shared a California roll that was perfect to round out the meal.

Anna was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, helping us choose dishes she knew we’d love. The restaurant has such a nice vibe, and the menu offers so many great options—you really can’t go wrong whether you dine in or grab takeout.

We’ll definitely be back. Thank you, Anna, for your kindness and for making our experience so special. Happy eating! ️

I have lived in Phuket in Thai before and love Thai food. I visited here and tried a tom yum koong, Khao soi gai and a non-alcohol beverage(I forgot the namae) and those are very authentic and so delicious. I especially liked Khao soi gai. It has rich flavor and authentic taste of Thai with minced pork, onions and vegies. Servers were friendly and kind. Price is affordable. One of the best Thai restaurant in Nashville.

Delicious!! The lighting is pretty dim so we needed to use our phone flashlights to read the menu (old eyes! ), but we all loved our food!!! We walked in as a party of 7 but didn’t have to wait at all to be seated on a Friday night. Highly recommend this place for yummy Thai food or sushi!

Good food options we’ve been going to smiley Thai the food is almost identical.
Good vegan/veg options.
Note for spicy lovers the spicy hot is actually really spicy.
The ambience is good.
I guess we were the last to dine it and it was closing time so we did feel a bit rushed. But overall would recommend for the food.
