The Joy Nest is incredible and we would give it more than 5 stars if that was an option. We got married at The Joy Nest and the food was absolutely amazing, the staff were not only fantastic – but they were a really fun time and for sure added to the day, their staff was incredible to work with leading up to the day, and the end of the night was so thoughtful. To give more specifics: the day of it was down pouring and the park we planned to use did not allow for tents (as a side note – it’s a great spot for pictures, down towards plum island and there are many beautiful spots for photos so close to this venue!). Caroline, day of, shifted the restaurants operations to host our wedding upstairs and dinner downstairs. They set up the upstairs in such an intimate way and it was just perfect for us. We’ve attached some photos to give a feel for what it looked like and some photo examples. Then, the food was amazing. AMAZING. At the end of the night they we’ve helped us box the leftovers AND stored it in their walk-ins for us to get the next day. I’ve been at so many weddings where you’re rushed out or need to get every last thing that night and this was not that at all. The service and care of the team at The Joy Nest is top notch. It’s also really fun to just be able to go to dinner there as a special outing too, like to visit and reminisce! Also for pricing – I can’t quite recall what we paid per person now that some time has passed but I remember feeling that it was very fair when we were price comparing, and after then having our wedding there, feel more than that for the quality and service. The Joy Nest is fantastic and highly recommended! 15/5 stars!!

Joy Nest has become one of my favorite restaurants. I’ve been twice now and the food, drinks, and service have been great. Sun noodle bowl was fantastic and full of great flavors. I also love the apps! We’ve tried most of them and were not disappointed with any!

This gem of a restaurant has been open for a year, but this was our first visit.
We love The Tannery Marketplace setting and the welcoming reel of this district at night. Located right on Water Street, the lights and warm decor welcomed and we decided to give it a try.
The decor is full of nooks and cozy touches in a glamorous speakeasy style decor.
We were tucked into a corner, surrounded by pillows, with a view of the bar and dining room.
Our server was friendly and professional and welcomed us to the restaurant as well as made suggestions every step of the way, ensuring a wonderful visit.
We started with the Thai Lettuce Wraps which was a spicy herb chicken salad that we scooped into the stack of lettuce leaves. A very warming starting on a cool evening.
We followed that with Kha – Nom – Jeep, round steamed pork and shrimp dumplings, served with a ginger sauce. Very flavorful.
We then enjoyed bowls of Spicy Ramen with Chashu (homemade pork belly) and Guay Teow with Beef and Rice Noodles, all based on our server’s recommendations.
Both were incredibly tasty and the perfect layer of flavor combos.
An incredible meal in an elegant, but relaxed setting, where a week night dinner out felt special.
We both said that this place would be especially lovely and cozy on a snowy, winter night, looking out the windows onto the Tannery lights.
I highly recommend this place and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Newburyport. This is a perfect romantic date night restaurant, but also a nice setting for small groups.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars

Very nice place and great service. I dont usually like thai food except at this place. It is pricey but worth it. They have live music band at certain days. Me and my husband celebrated our birthdays there and they even made us this cute surprise.

The first time I came here, I got takeout. The food had items missing and it wasn’t something I’d order again. The second time coming, I dined in. The food was great! The staff were very accommodating and everything I ate had new amazing flavors! I definitely recommend trying places more than once as they redeem themselves!

Today I visited Joy Nest with my weekly lunch date friend and boy were we happy we chose Joy Nest. It has been a few years since I had last eaten there and I am going to have to put this restaurant on the top of my Newburyport choices. The food was amazing. It was fresh, delicous, and we loved that we could customize our noodle bowls with what type of noodles, protein and broth. Absolutely delicous! Our server Trevor was such a wonderful waiter, helping us with our selections, tending to our every need and checking on us frequently to be sure we were happy. We were more than happy and will return again very soon. Thank you for a wonderful lunch and experience.

My husband and I went for another date night — The Joy Nest has the most WONDERFUL cocktails and food that is unique, flavorful and different from what any other local restaurant in the area is doing. My cocktail was fantastic — the menu is also beautifully designed & creative 😉 Very comfortable upstairs and downstairs — 5 stars, can’t wait to get back for jazz nights. Perfect cozy winter date night spot. Thank you, thank you!

Took my daughter here for her surprise 18th on Friday night. She is a frequent visitor at the restaurant along with one other in our party of 9 and loves it. I can see why they love it. The atmosphere is great I absolutely love how its decorated, the food was great there was even live music that I didn’t know about when I made the reservations. It was quite busy and we had to wait a bit for our reservations, we sat upstairs, our server did a great job.

I cannot possibly say enough good things about our experience having our wedding at The Joy Nest. They made it the easiest, most stress free, most beautiful event. The space is gorgeous with beautiful furniture, lighting, and décor. The food is delicious and the staff is amazing. Caroline calmly and graciously hosted the event and I don’t think there was a single thing we asked about that she said no to. From being incredibly generous and flexible with the menu to account for our smaller party and our vegan and peanut allergy guests, to moving furniture around to create a space for the ceremony and dancing, she helped us with everything. She helped us take incredible pictures in cool locations, gave us freedom on the music, received our flowers early and stored them overnight for us. Just impossibly kind and accommodating, as were Barabara and Trevor on the day who took such fantastic care of us. I feel like I’m barely scratching the surface of all that they did to create a warm and beautiful day. I can’t recommend them enough.

We had five appetizers and a main course. Of the appetizers, the beef bao bun and the shrimp and pork dumpling were our favorites, the shrimp in a fried skin was also good. The golden bags and the fresh rolls were disappointing, they would have been better with shrimp instead of chicken. I had a duck noodle soup which was very good but too much after all of the appetizers, next time just two appetizers.
The service leaves much to be desired. There was no attempt at pacing, all of the appetizers came out at once and then they tried to bring out our main courses before we had even started the appetizers. The tables are tiny so there was no chance that everything could fit at the same time. They did remake our main courses when we were ready instead of serving us cold dishes so they did fix their mistake but it would have been better if they just paced the dishes.
