The wife and I stopped down from Ohio to explore family roots. On the way through we decided to stop in. I’m so happy we did. The food reminds me of the food my great grand mother made. That’s a high compliment. Anyways the food is very very good and the staff treated us strangers like near friends. Can’t thank them all for the kindness.

We had an excellent dinner at the Hilltop Diner. It’s a small diner in the small town of Cowen, WV. The service was great and friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the hot roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, and homemade rolls. Others had the Roast Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and a Mountaineer Burger that had hash browns, fried egg, cheese, onions on a beef patty. Everyone was pleased with their dinner. Definitely worth trying.

We were looking for a good “mom and pop” restraunt for some home cooked food. We stopped here for breakfast food even though it was almost noon. They were out of all the breakfast food. We ordered lunch food instead. It all tasted like it was just warm up food from cans. However, on a positive note -the staff was very nice.

Pretty cool place to stop in at. Only 1 working the floor so it took forever to get waited on, like 20 minutes. Meanwhile another couple came in and she started cleaning tables and obviously knew the staff, they got their meals before we even got to order. The food was good don’t get me wrong but 1 visit here is plenty

On my way through to Williams River, I dropped in for a late lunch. The staff were pleasant and attentive, and my cheeseburger and onion petals arrived much faster than I’d anticipated. The place was only half full on a Friday afternoon and that shocked me, but it was still a pleasing experience. I’d have to say that the Hilltop is a pretty decent diner and better than average in the area.
