Well… first was the bad ordering experience not due to any reason of theirs. Card n bank issues n my party not having orders decided before began ordering… so I was a pain and I know I was but the lovely ladies were so sweet kind understanding and very patient. As far as atmosphere seemed laid back country but took food to go so didn’t get to feel it out completely. Food: my husband said the big Edna was awesome. N boy can they cook some cabbage. Unfortunately I was craving fish n corn soooo bad that it was an utter disappointment when took a bite which literally broke my heart. The corn had no flavor. Tasted like just opened can warmed up n put in plate, no butter no seasoning. The fish was same, blan no flavor no salt, but the kids liked it. The corn bread was sweet like jiffy which I do like. The blackberry cobbler was very tart. But the kids really enjoyed the banana pudding. As far as food is concerned, it definitely was not worth how much I spent.

The hamburger steak was good, not great. The okra was ok. The mustard greens needed alot of help. Absolutely no seas at all in them, very bland.

If you are from a small or small-ish town in the south and miss your family’s home cooking, stop in and give this place a try. Service is exactly as it should be (great!), the atmosphere is comfortable and the food is quite good. My turnip greens could have had a bit more seasoning but the catfish and okra were perfect. I marked this place on my map for the next time I ride near the area.

Out of bounds of large cities seats a local restaurant with local folks that enough good home cooking. I am glad I stopped by. Good burger, chicken fried streak, and Nathan dog. Food was cold but still good.

Went in for breakfast. I got the breakfast plate with sunny side up eggs, bacon, sausage patties, and tator tots with an additional side salad. My husband ordered the fried catfish plate with fries, corn nuggets, and hush puppies. The eggs were over cooked as was the bacon and sausage patties but what’s worse is that everything was very dry and tasted old as if it had been cooked way earlier and then reheated. Not fresh. We went in right when they opened at eleven. His cat fish had no seasoning to the batter at all and was pretty much tasteless. The fries and tator tots were okay, but definitely the same as store bought from a bag. We wound up taking half the catfish in a to go box to give to our dogs. The waitresses were very sweet, everyone was polite and nice, but the food was awful.

I’ve been meaning to stop in here for years and finally did today. It is wonderful. We started with house made onion rings, fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks. Excellent onion Rings. I had the fork tender chicken fried steak and she the chicken tenders. The sides, of fresh mashed potatoes and mustard greens were perfect. Fresh housemade cream gravy was seasoned well and didn’t even need black pepper. Savory cornbread, not that sweet stuff…
My only regret was getting the hush puppies, found out after we were done eating that, they too are housemade. I will be back, so I will get them.

Nice country cafe we ate at a couple of times when we spent the weekend at a local cabin. Food was good but I really liked the people. Our waitress was always checking on us but also the other staff would check us anytime they passed by. Definitely will go back if in the area again.

We almost didn’t stop here on our travels through Texas because the sign was a little worn. But we turned around and went back and had one of the best home cook meals we had in Texas. What a nice little surprise.
