The food here was really good. I had a great meal here. The atmosphere is really nice too. Very cool building.

The Crab Rangoons were some of the best I’ve ever had. Nice to actually have some with crab and not just cream cheese with a hint of crab.

The servers were friendly but service was a bit slow. It’s a shame they are closing though.

What a fantastic place! Elegant decor with an overall stunning atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor seating with heaters in the colder seasons. The food was some of the most flavorful Chinese dishes I’ve had in a long time! Off the servers recommendations, I got the Fried Rice with Roasted Duck. It had the perfect balance of earthy spices though I wish there was more duck to balance all the rice and veggies. The Pepper Steak was so tender with a hint of spice. Paired with a glass of Sangiovese Rose wine was a perfect combo. Pricing was fantastic for such large portions. Now if you are going on the weekend keep in mind this is a very popular place. We ended up waiting up to an hour before we were seated. But the wait was well worth the food. Parking was also very dicey, it’s paid to park and we had to circle the area several times before a spot opened up. And even then it was a 7min walk. But overall will definitely come back again!

My family and I stumbled upon this on our way to a different restaurant and decided to stay and eat here instead and we were so happy that we did. The food was top-notch and didn’t taste like a Chinese buffet. The dumplings were amazing. The sesame chicken was absolutely wonderful and the atmosphere was so enjoyable. Our waitress was wonderful and so was our bartender. I highly recommend stopping here for a visit. We had to wait about an hour to get in, but it was totally worth it.

An Absolute Gem – A Must-Visit!

My daughter and I had dinner at Ernest Chinese last night, and I honestly can’t believe we waited this long to try it — what a hidden treasure! From the moment we walked up, I was captivated. The signage, patio area, and entry doors are so unique and charming, it already felt special before we even stepped inside.

And then… WOW. The interior is absolutely stunning — there’s a huge cherry blossom tree hanging over the bar and the lighting throughout the dining area is beautifully eclectic. It’s hard to describe how magical it felt, but I did my best to capture it in photos! (Check out my pics and follow if you love discovering gorgeous dining spots ✨)

We were greeted by a super friendly server, and the service was quick and smooth — no wait at all. We went between 3–6pm and hit their happy hour, which has great deals on drinks and appetizers. Highly recommend the shrimp dumplings — they were fantabulous! I had the beef lo mein (perfection), and my daughter had the sweet-and-sour shrimp with white rice, which she devoured.

We’re already planning our next visit to try more of the menu. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for an Instagram-worthy spot with top-notch vibes, Ernest Chinese is a must.

Our 1st visit, but definitely won’t be our last. We had seen a vlog about this restaurant (“We Try Wednesday” by Chattanooga Pulse) and were eager to see if this place lives up to the hype…which it does! All food is prepared fresh daily on-site, which includes their egg rolls, dumplings, salad dressings, and sauces. The restaurant itself is lovely and comfortable, with enjoyable music played loud enough to enjoy but without impeding table conversations. Cocktails are yummy and strong.

The food was a delight. Since it was our 1st visit, we definitely over ordered because we were curious to try so many dishes; none disappointed. We all really enjoyed the crab Rangoon, fried rice, and lo mein. The “adder” to my entree of lightly breaded shrimp was cooked to perfection. Desserts were okay… not what was expected based on menu descriptions; the flour less chocolate cake had a bit of spiciness.

Service was attentive and pleasant. Adjacent parking is not free nor validates, but it wasn’t too expensive for our visit ($2.50 for 2 hours)

The atmosphere is amazing. Love how they have it decorated. The food was just average not bad but not great. The pork belly was the best dish and the egg drop soup was the least best. It’s not somewhere we would go back but if asked we would say try it for yourself. As all tastes are different it just didn’t wow us. But you might love it.

Had a wonderful experience with my friends at Ernest! We had the sweetest server KIKI! I enjoyed my cocktail: Shanghai Sour 10/10 (if you like sweet drinks) and appetizers: pork dumplings and Crab Rangoon 10/10 for my meal: Mongolian beef comes with white rice. I was pleasantly impressed! Can’t wait to go back!!

The food was excellent, and the dining area is beautiful. The dishes that the food is served on are very pretty. We are vegetarian and they had several things to choose from. What we chose was excellent. The barbecue tofu was great and the salad that we had with additional tofu on it was also very good.

We had such a wonderful Sunday lunch at Ernest! The atmosphere is amazing – beautiful decor and natural light! One of the best ambiances in Chattanooga. The food was delicious! The pork dumplings and crab Rangoon appetizers were the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the Lo Mein, Fried Rice and Ern’s chicken! Our kids loved the chicken fried rice. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu!
