Absolutely love the concept. Oysters and hotdogs, 2 things I crave and have a hard time finding. Service and atmosphere is great. Food is good, not the best I’ve had. Oysters are on the small side. I prefer my own chili dog to theirs. The slaw was really good. I love everything about this place, I’m just picky on these 2 items.

We are repeating customer. Because every time we come here, the food is just great. I got a pull pork sandwich and a chili cheese dog and stained vegetables. Which was absolutely the best. My wife got the seafood platter and I tried every one of her seafood and it was excellent would definitely be back in the day.

I’m from Dallas, We have family in Newnan. We love this place. Not fancy, but great food. We try to go here at least twice when we visit. Prices are a great value for what you can get in a big city. Grilled oysters and Cole slaw are delicious. This place is a gem!

Just grabbed some lunch and really wanted to munch on some Coney dogs and chili cheese fries. Unfortunately for me being from Michigan, there are not a lot of options for me to indulge my craving. Thankfully I found the Half Shell! They not only had exactly what I wanted, but the service was very friendly and the resturant was clean and kept. Definitely recommend eating here if you want something good, filling, and low key.

We went and tried out The Half Shell Restaurant in Newnan. I was a little hesitant going in because it looks like a bar where people hang out. We walked in and sat down. They were really slow acknowledging us. It took at least 10 minutes before anyone spoke to us. Then it got a whole lot better. Melinda was our server and she took good care of us. The food was great! I’m always hesitant about getting seafood when I’m not at the beach. I tried their seafood even though we are no where near the beach. It was great! I got fried grouper and fried shrimp with fried okra and fries. You can’t beat that! I definitely recommend trying this restaurant. Watch out because their sign says they close at 8pm. Well they do! They started turning people away at 7:15pm. I that was a little too early.

OMG!! I never order macaroni and cheese at a restaurant because it is always overcooked and it is more like baked cheese with pasta mixed in it. They are macaroni and cheese is fabulous! Not baked cheese and not a watery cheese sauce. It is perfect! I love their new menu with added items.

A hidden gem of a storefront restaurant (which has been in operation over 20 years)
Oysters and hot dogs are the main menu items at The Half Shell in Newnan but if you like either, this is the place. They also have hand cut and battered fried dill pickles (not coming off a Cisco truck).
My dad and I love raw oysters (they also have baked) and these were plump and rich, served with all the proper accoutrements, including more than the usual paltry tiny slice of lemon.
If you’re heading into Newnan on Hwy 34, it’ll be worth a stop, even if you aren’t a fan of either of their two main dishes because they have THE GOOD ICE! (Flaked, for easy crunching!)
I forget about this hidden gem but plan to go back soon.
