This restaurant has gone through a major downgrade after changing their chef.
I ordered Gongura Paneer Biryani, and what I received was shocking — it was basically bhagara rice mixed with gongura paste and a few paneer slices. That is not biryani at all. No proper flavor, no layering, no authenticity.
Even the tea taste has completely changed and is nowhere close to what it used to be.
On top of that, the packaging quality has dropped — earlier it was sturdy hard plastic, now it feels cheap and poorly packed.
Overall, the food quality, taste, and presentation have gone downhill. This used to be a place I enjoyed, but sadly it’s not worth it anymore. Hoping the management takes this feedback seriously.

Amazing place for Indian food near by Indian trail and Monroe, NC.
They have daily specials and weekend specials.
Love their Chaat, chicken ghee roast pulav and malai kofta. They also have huge variety of fresh Indian desserts and snacks which they make fresh everyday.

We went there on the day when chat items were $5 each. Ordered onion samosa, Samosa chat and pav bhaji.
Onion samosa was decent. Samosa chat was not good at all. Pav bhaji was horrendous, no salt, no taste, instantly returned it to get something other. Glad they agreed but no options to replace it so I had to take samosa again.
Onion samosa – 3/5
Samosa Chat – 2/5
Pav Bhaji – 0/5
Was a regular customer of desi bites in Kansas city, but this one is a different story.

I went for lunch with a group of friends, first time for several of us. The woman at the counter was extraordinary. She was friendly and patient, she took time to explain and describe, she handled our many questions with accurate information, grace and professionalism. The food was plentiful, flavorful and very reasonably priced. I found it too spicy for my comfort but I don’t tolerate spicy heat at all. (One of my party ordered butter chicken and that will be my choice next time.) It’s casual dining, paper plates, plastic utensils, nothing fancy but remember those generous portions and reasonable prices. The grocery section was chock full of staples and treats and beautiful produce, most of which was not in plastic. I’d go back just for the produce. Overall, our experience was very positive. Best of luck to this locally owned and operated business.

This place has consistently very good Biryanis. We tried Kebabs and curries too they are hit or miss. Overall this place serves better food than most of the restaurants in Charlotte for very good price.
One thing we observed is the kebabs are very good and fresh on Kebab nights than other days. If you want to try their kebabs it better to go on Kebab night.
Angara panner kebab is a must try in veg kebabs.
Guthivankay biryani is a must try in veg biryanis.

I’ve eaten here three or four times and had solid meals every time. I recommend the Dose with Goat Curry nice change of pace and tasty. Also the Malai Kaofta was yummy. They serve generous portions at a reasonable price.

Ordered Karampodi chicken appetizer and I got something else as I did not feel any flavor of spice powder karampodi in it. Also the chicken was not well cooked. It’s dry and hard while biting a piece. Not happy with the food taste I got not sure if any other items here taste good. Will try once more here and never going to get again if I have same experience

We had originally ordered from them for delivery a couple weeks ago. I was in the area so stopped in on Wednesday evening to pickup something for dinner because we really enjoyed the meal we got. I was so glad to find out they had a $10 currys on Wed. Because that made the day that had already been difficult a lot better. They food is good the service is wonderful and we will be regular customers for sure!

Tucked conveniently near Costco, Desi Bytes in Charlotte, NC, serves as a delightful spot for a hearty Indian meal paired with the convenience of grocery shopping. With its clean, cozy ambiance and well-balanced flavors, this unassuming eatery offers a pleasant break from the typical shopping day rush.

The boneless chicken biryani is the undeniable highlight—fragrant, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, making it a standout dish worth returning for. The samosas are crisp and well-spiced, delivering a satisfying start to the meal. The non-vegetarian curries also hold their own, offering rich, comforting flavors.

While the menu delivers on taste, the limited appetizer options slightly dampen the overall experience. A broader selection would elevate the offering and add more depth to the dining experience.

An added bonus is the attached grocery section, allowing customers to shop for Indian staples while waiting for or finishing their meal—an efficient and thoughtful concept.

Overall. It is a great stop for delicious, comforting Indian food with the bonus of grocery convenience. While there’s room to grow in the appetizer department, the core menu and ambiance make it a solid choice for locals and shoppers alike.

While returning from Costco, we decided to give this place a try. We ordered Onion Samosas, Chole Bathure, Veg Biryani and Paneer Butter Masala.

All the items tasted very good and were freshly made. Also, the portion is quite decent for the price
I would definitely visit again if I’m in this area again.

Only thing is that it took a bit longer than usual for the food to arrive, but I can give consideration that they were busy since it was Saturday.
