We are on a road trip and stayed at Governor Dodge State Park. When visiting new areas, we like to try and find local places to eat versus chains. Did a search and Pleasant Ridge popped up. After looking at the pictures, we decided it doesn’t get much more local than this so off we went. The place is literally surrounded by farmland but the parking lot was near full. As soon as we walked in, we knew we made the right choice. We were greeted and seated immediately even though they were super busy. Our server, Charlie, came over right away and asked if we wanted drinks. We told her we were on a long road trip and wanted to try a local beer. She asked where we were from and spent the next 5+ minutes talking about our travels (and she was genuinely interested!). She brought our drinks and we ordered our food. Cheeseburger and a grilled chicken sandwich. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Each was $10 which nowadays is a bargain. The entire experience was amazing and highly recommended if you want a laid back place with great people and even better food.

Interesting stop for nothing special bar food. Frozen fries were tasty, burger tasted good. Could see into the kitchen & the cook didn’t wear gloves handling different food including putting the chips into the baskets.

A decent spot with potential, but inconsistent.
My wife and I have stopped in a few times over the past few years. It’s a nice place with a good atmosphere, friendly service, and a solid beer selection. That said, our experiences have been hit or miss.
On our most recent visit, we split a spicy curd burger and a brisket burger. The brisket burger was decent, but the curd burger was unfortunately overcooked—edible, but just barely, and disappointing enough that we wouldn’t have finished it if we weren’t so hungry. I mentioned it to the waitress, but nothing really came of it.
We’ll probably give it another shot in a year or so and hope for a better experience.

I cannot say enough good things about this little known establishment. Down right delightful food with large portions; come hungry for sure. The shrimp po boy is a staple and a must try. The brisket burger should not be passed up. Get the boom boom sauce even if its on the side to try it with your meal or fries. The place is an old general store but is a healthy balance of a biker slash cowboy bar. There are high line tie-outs in the back for those riding from Gov dodge state park (about an hour ride on the trail from equestrian camp). Take the time to walk around and absorb the history thats posted on the walls and at the coffee table that has old yearbooks and nostalgia waiting to be read. Stop by you will not be disappointed by the friendly service and warm atmosphere.

Stumbled across this historic roadside tavern taking the back way home from Governor Dodge State Park. Great atmosphere and high quality tap list, a hidden treasure in the Driftless.

We came across this restaurant by accident and are SO glad we found it!! Great food and service. We followed their advice and added the “Boom Boom” sauce to our chicken sandwich and hamburger. What a great mid-stop for lunch!!

Great Dive Bar in the middle of Gods Country, that’s why I love it. This is a destination that will leave you wanting to come back.

Such a cute place! I never would have expected the inside looking like it did. Cute small bar to sit at and tables/booths to sit at. The food was amazing. My friend and I each had a different special- brisket burger with bacon and blue cheese and a steak sandwich with grilled onions and jack cheese. The service was attentive and friendly. There is a deck to sit on too. Really cute place. 100% recommend.
