This is not the way to do business. My friends drove over 2 hours to see this place and we wanted to try the burger. To say we were upset is an understatement.
FOOD: We ate burgers on this trip. They were excellent. On par with any we’ve had anywhere. Cooked to perfection with attention to detail. The Pimento Cheese is homemade and top notch. The homemade BBQ Sauce (Sa’rday Sauce) will cause you to give thanks for your tastebuds. Literally can not wait for a return to Jefferson
SERVICE: From the moment we walked in, we felt like locals coming home for a bite to eat. Owners Tony and Betsy were incredible! For being in what we saw as the middle of nowhere, it stayed busy! Yet they made sure our experience was great
ATMOSPHERE: As I said at the beginning, everything you’d think you’d find in a backroads country store. Nostalgia from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Football helmets from local teams, concert posters, relics from the past… incredible. I could have stayed and looked for hours.
FAMILIES, GROUPS, ETC: There are several table spaces to sit and eat. Space is limited though but it shouldn’t deter anyone from stopping. This is a place where you catch a seat anywhere to enjoy this.
VERDICT: We will go out of our way to go to Jefferson and so should you!
NOTE: April and October, the town and store are host to a MASSIVE BBQ fundraiser with more than 2,000lbs of pork shoulder being cooked. We are literally making our return trip just for this!
We had to make the trip after reading and hearing from Sean Dietrich (Sean of the South) that this place had the best cheeseburger ever. It’s true!
We also found out that the fried baloney sandwich is a destination worthy option as well, if you are interested in that sort of thing.
Highly recommend for locals or travelers!
