Bottom line… I’ve never waited this long for food this underwhelming.
The slowest service possible. It took 10-15 minutes just to get menus, and people that came after us were helped first. We had to ask for menus. It took another 10-15 minutes to take our order.
We watched the gentleman server bring out food for other diners and every dish seemed to be wrong or served to the wrong person. The guy was flustered and couldn’t get anything correct. He ran around, back and forth, but never really seemed to accomplish anything. Eventually, the female server came to get our orders.
After 1 HOUR and 20 MINUTES of sitting at the table, our food came finally came out. It was under seasoned and mediocre at best. Not even hot… more like room temperature.
This is definitely the result of limited eating options in the town.
Next time, we’ll just grab gas station food.

Hometown cooking, Decent Sunday buffet!
TL:DR
Don’t expect to be overwhelmed by the quality, but there are definitely some items worth visiting for! Be prepared to pay a bit extra on buffet days.
Details:
Heard about a newer restaurant in Burwell, and ended up here after church on Sunday for their Sunday buffet.
It was crowded, and there isn’t a lot of seating inside, but you could tell everyone was enjoying themselves and the food.
A larger selection than I expected, and several items were delicious. They had a chicken tortilla soup that was excellent, if a bit short on chicken. A cheesy beef and potato casserole was outstanding, and their fried and baked chicken were both decent, though not award winning by any means.
Dessert wasn’t anything to write home about, although my daughter loved some kind of coconut and fruit concoction.
Service was slow, but part of that was due to this being a newer business and they definitely had a large lunch rush while we were there.
Overall, this is an okay option to add to the Burwell restaurant list, but don’t set your expectations too high.

Passing through town and wanted to find a small town cafe. Parking was kind of weird (old drive inn?) Parked in the street. Not greeted when we came in. Waited a bit to get a menu. 1 waitress. 2 “specials” on the white board when we walked in. No price, just the specials description. My wife and I were going to each order the special and I asked how much it was… $13!!!! REALLY?! (One of the items was a tavern/sloppy joe sandwich with a side). As others have said, food was underwhelming.. Waitress was nice. Old small town decor. Prices were pretty ridiculous for lunch on a weekday. Won’t be stopping again.

Very cozy place. I had the brisket sandwich with Italian pasta salad and Iced tea, served in a Mason jar. Large portions for the price! If I ever come through town again, I’ll definitely be stopping by. The cook and the waitress were very friendly and genuinely happy to have me there. I think they will remember the hornet guy.

Great food! We had the pulled pork and the brisket sandwiches. They were delicious. I would have given a 4 star, but it took thirty minutes to be served and there were only 3 other tables eating at the same time. The bathroom was clean.

Stopped in for lunch on Saturday of Junk Jaunt. The diner is quaint with a friendly vibe. Our waitress was fast and hospitable.
The food was the highlight. I had a shrimp platter special. It had a kabob of grilled shrimp with butter topping & 6 butterfly friend shrimp. I added a side of green beans. The butterfly shrimp were friend and crisp. The green beans cooked in bacon grease – tasted homemade.
My husband had a bronco burger. It was a smashed burger that had a grill fired taste. Wonderful.

this place was TERRIBLE!! we went in around 12 and they told us only breakfast food (not a problem) we sat down and the lady that helped us was extremely nice and friendly. we ordered an omelette and biscuits and gravy which they told us no more gravy so we had to get something else. we waited 54 minutes for our food to come out!!!! almost an HOUR after we ordered. once the food got there it looked alright but the hashbrowns were so burnt and it only tasted like oil. then we found a hair in the eggs and we hadn’t even take a bite yet!!!! the omelette had this weird white stuff inside like fake cheese? but it did not taste like cheese and left a weird film all in your mouth:( we barely ate any food and when we went to pay i saw that the lady cooking wasn’t wearing a hair net and the kitchen looked dirty. people were nice but the food was just horrible

I always am sure to eat at The Spot when I’m in town. Carol has so many fun and delicious specials, and it’s so fun to be able to switch it up every now and then. That’s not always possible in a small town so I’m grateful for the variety of food she brings to Burwell. Plus, it’s all delicious . Great service, great food, great everything!
