We went to Grievous Angel during its first week open, and even on a rainy night there was a line out the door. That says a lot.
The smash burger was excellent. I ordered it with lettuce, ketchup, mayo, and cheddar, and the crust was perfectly crispy with great flavor. Simple, well executed, and exactly what you want from a smash burger. I do wish they offered bacon as an add on, that would take it up another notch.
The fries were good, though not standout. The hot dog was solid as well, but our kids were not fans of the Texas toast bun.
The staff was clearly overwhelmed by the crowd, which is understandable given that they just opened a week ago. There are good outdoor seating options, which helped.
Overall, this is easily a 5 out of 5 for smash burgers in Lakeland. Great start, and we will definitely be back.

Grievous Angel is a good place to get some smash burgers and fries. The service was great as they bring your food to your table once you order from the cashier. I thought the burgers were good with their special aioli sauce and burger cooked with a slight crunch on the edges (delicious!). The fries were a little to salty and the fountain drinks with free refills. They also had a nice variety of Pepsi products and some sweet tea as well. I like the casual feel to the restaurant and the outdoor picnic table seating good for friends and families. I also liked the concept of naming the burgers interesting names which had a fun and different feel to it. I would recommend trying this burger spot and grabbing a smash burger, fries and a nice casual feel.

It was great to be able to come and try this place out. Just from our experience the food was average, service was great and atmosphere as far as decorations and design was very pretty. The indoor seating is not the greatest but has plenty of outdoor seating. I ordered the “somewhere in texas” and “weekend hero”. Both burgers were good but were very salty my husband and I felt. Not sure if they are working out the spices or if they are suppose to be like that. Service was great. Super nice greetings and helpful with ordering and any questions. Atmosphere was nice with the old westerns playing on the TV and the colors with pictures on the walls. If you have children, please be mindful that they do have cactus and other pointy plants around the sidewalks leading to the door. Parking we found across the street.

I have to say the atmosphere is pretty great. They do have a bar. You can sit at with pretty good selection of whiskeys and spirits along with IPA beers and a few standards. I have the abbreviation burger very tasty at 11 bucks. I feel like it was a good value I did have the chili cheese fries which I asked and they said that was homemade chili but tasted more like canned chili so not a favor of mine I would probably not order that again cold Guinness to finish off the meal servers came around and dropped off your food and checked on you pretty frequently which was nice while not being pushy. The outdoor seating has long basically community benches lots of seating but if you don’t get there by opening time, you could be waiting. Will I return? I have to say yes.

Line was out to the road but worth it. Just an FYI most of the seating is outdoors so if it’s a cold night you may wanna bring a jacket. Tried a bit of everything, burgers were great, the dogs were high quality and had a snap, that I love. Crinkle fries were great, chili and cheese on them even better. Do not forget to have the beignets, I’ve had the ones in New Orleans, and I’d rather have these.

Their smash burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Their crinkle fries were lightly dusted, just enough to not require ketchup if you wanted. The line was out the door but u like Love Birds there was ample outdoor covered seating with fans. There is a bar section with seven seats, and two bartenders were making sure you got what you needed. The manager roamed and helped with checking on customers and running food when needed. The bar selection was robust with several ciders as well as PBR and other domestics. The price was not overly expensive. A great addition to the Lake Mirror /Main Street area.

Best burger joint in Lakeland. Everything was absolutely great! Mr. John was very nice and attentive. I ordered Daisy Dolin & weekend hero. Daisy was definitely better for me but the house sauce with the hero made just as good. Definitely get the crinkle fries as well. The only thing I didn’t like was that the margarita had a bit too much ice but all good I wasn’t looking to get drunk jajaja. Please go to this and enjoy yourselves.

Made it out to Grievous Angel for their soft opening this week! This place delivered on every level…. Atmosphere, reasonably priced, well prepared, great, service and top notch quality!
I ordered 2 smashburgers (yes 2, you wanna fight about it?!) and an order of their spicy fried pickles.
Grievous Angel 5/5 – the namesake burger was pure perfection. 2 smash patties, American cheese, charred onions, pickled Jalepeno peppers and their Sunday Best Sauce. The patties were well seasoned and I loved the toasted potato bun. Definitely a must-have!
Somewhere in Texas 4.7/5 – another banger! Double smash patties with smoked gouda, pecan-smoked bacon, bourbon black pepper BBQ sauce and ranch slaw. ***MAJOR FLAVOR BOMB*** Can’t go wrong getting this one either!
Spicy fried pickles 4.6/5 – these were the thinnest sliced pickles I have ever seen. Very cool take of a classic appetizer and the best surprise are the fried Jalepenos mixed in. Served with Sunday Best Sauce
Still more items to try and I pledge to run through the whole menu! Get there early because the place is BUSY. Be patient with staff as they find their groove. And with it being the new hot spot, there will be a wait. We were greeted at the door by a server and she ran down the menu for us with everything that was available. They have a great selection of local beers as well. Overall, I truly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be back when I’m in town.
