We went there around 2:30am, and Manjit did an excellent job cooking the food to perfection. Although it was only 30 minutes till close, his service was very informative, passionate, and thoughtful. He explained the history of Chawla, and helped us make our foodie decisions.

Manjit answered my many questions and gave his professional opinions. I ended up trying two dishes which were both fabulous. The lahori chicken tikka is my personal favorite with its tender meat which had soaked up the delicious flavors, making it extremely dynamic and everything you could want. The cream chicken had a unique flavor that manages to continue the trend of tender meat but with a completely different flavor focusing on a very creamy heartiness. I would highly recommend trying these two dishes and exploring the rest of the extensive menu. I am certain that every other dish of theirs will be equally wonderful because of Manjit’s expertise. I can’t wait to try the achaari chicken and ras malai next time!

Also, if you enjoy textiles, check out his textiles that are from the same town that Chawla originated in. I could tell that he truly was a textile person when he picked out the perfect scarves for all of us. He is a great conversationalist and definitely someone I’m glad I met so early in the year. I can’t wait to see what else he does with the place!

Enjoy the authentic food, extraordinary service, and amazing atmosphere in 2026!

Unfortunately despite a very friendly uncle at the desk, the food is bad. Ordered 2 different chicken tikkas. One was very liquidy. Neither was flavorful.

The chicken had likely not been marinated before, or not marinated long enough since the flavors were not in the chicken at all.

Manjit answered all of our questions about the menu both attentively and thoughtfully. He cooked with intent to make the best food possible, and he showed that he truly cares about the quality of the food, as well as the satisfaction of customers. So far I have only tried 2 dishes, but I know that I will be back soon to try more of the menu! The delicious specialty cream chicken was exceptionally original, savory, and creamy. The chicken lahori tikka has an impeccable blend of ginger, garlic paste/sauce, and chilli bell pepper. It was bursting with flavor, excellently marinated, and has perfectly sized pieces. I can’t wait to come back! Also, I love the scarf that I got here! It is beautiful, stylish, and soft!

We literally came from California and were in Seattle for Valentine week, and we had to visit Chawla after almost 5–6 years. The taste is still exactly the same — absolutely amazing. The cream chicken was bomb and truly their specialty. Loved the food, the ambience, and the owner was so welcoming. So worth it ❤️

I love hole in the wall places like this. My friend and I ordered 3 main dishes, 2 wraps, and some garlic naan between the two of us. Everything was excellent. We’re pretty sure it was all cooked fresh by a SINGULAR guy. Might have taken a while to cook all 5 meals but this guy was hustlin. I hope he can get some help so he can serve more tables.

Amazing! First off the older man at the counter was very nice! He was friendly and explained the different dishes on the menu. I went in tonight and got Chicken Lahori Tikka and a 2 dish combo of Chicken Saag and Buttee Chicken. Like others said the Butter Chicken is a bit more watery but I believe its because its more of a Pakastani version than Indian. I would reccomend this place to amyone looking for an afforadble Indian/Pakastani option. I will be going back again for sure!

Although the food was good, the portion size of the crispy fried chicken left a bit to be desired. On top of that, the dining experience didn’t meet our expectations considering the price point. We were surprised to be served on paper plates and to have to use plastic utensils. Better as take-out than dine-in.

My friends are visiting town, and after a late night we were starving and trying to decide where to eat. We were torn between Chawlas and another Indian spot nearby, and we ended up choosing Chawlas. After that experience, we knew we made the right choice.

From the moment we walked in, Manjit, the owner, made us feel genuinely welcome. He took the time to ask about our preferences and gave thoughtful recommendations. He told us we had to try the cream chicken, the dish that put Chawlas on the map. As an Indian American Punjabi, I can honestly say I’ve never had anything like it before. The gravy was rich, beautifully spiced, and comforting, and the chicken was incredibly tender and full of flavor.

He also recommended the Lahori chicken tikka, which was just as impressive. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor, no gamey taste at all. By the end of the meal, we felt truly satisfied and content in a way that only really good food can leave you feeling.

What made the night even more special, though, was Manjit himself. He shared the history of Chawlas, answered all of our questions about the food, and made the whole experience feel personal and meaningful. Inside this cozy restaurant, he also sells high-quality fabrics imported from his hometown in India. In such a kind and unexpected gesture, he thoughtfully choose a beautiful scarf for each person. That small act of generosity genuinely made our night.

This Chawlas in Seattle isn’t just a place to eat, it’s an experience rooted in warmth, culture, and incredible food. I’ll absolutely be coming back and bringing more friends to discover this gem.
