Loved, Loved the catfish. Some of the best I’ve eaten in awhile.
So when we got there must have been a new person or new computer system. Took awhile to order one appetizer of fried pickles, one 3 pc fish meal with fries, an extra side of Mac & cheese, Mt Dew soda and a water.
Then nothing was explained that the soda machine did not work so only thing available to drink was water or tea, Then fried pickles come out. (Waitress / cashier noticed at this point my husband did not have his soda he ordered and brought him a 16oz bottle.)
Pickles were delicious. Then fish and macaroni and cheese (the extra side dish we ordered) which I would not call this Mac & cheese.. I would call it a spicy garlic sauce pasta dish, it was good in its own way, but definitely not Mac and cheese. Maybe add some grilled chicken with this topped with some sun dried or diced tomatoes and use a penne noodle instead?

A good Mac & cheese soul food might go heavy on some real cheddar cheese with some jalapeños diced in…

I Asked about our side of fries. We waited finished all our other food and They came when we were done and ready to leave. $32 +tip. They tried real hard but need some training and organizing. I definitely will try again, this is no way harping this business… just needs a little redirection and organizing. But do not get discouraged if you plan on visiting.
This is a cozy mom and pop type shop with a good vibe that we love to support.

One young lady in the back looked like she was the only cook and she was rocking it!

Hands down the best soul food that you are going to find in Springfield. There was 4 of us. 1 got fried chicken. 1 got fried fish. The other 2 of us got the brown beans w/fried potatoes and sweet corn bread. The greens were the absolute best. Cajun fried corn was so good. We were all just sharing everything. It was all just awesome. The portions are also good sized. Will be back, a lot.

Amazing dining experience. Food ( Brown beans with fried potatoes and sweet cornbread with a side order of collard greens) was exceptional with an authentic southern soul food stamp of approval. Definitely, makes you feel like you are at Ma Dear(Big Mama)’s family Sunday dinner with the entire family around the table.

Customer service was fast, warm , respectful and kind.

First time at Mimi’s, excellent fried catfish with perfect amount of cornmeal breading and it was hot and fresh. Cornbread was wonderful but would have been better warm with butter. Collard greens were good with a bit of a kick. Check them out! I will return for more.

Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food. Ended up having to get it to go because we drove from Kansas City, and my daughter was performing at MSU. I was left with only 20 minutes to find parking, get into the school, find a seat, and watch her. Only got to eat half a piece of catfish. It sat in the cold car. I ordered wings, and after 30 minutes, I was told they didn’t have any, so I subbed for catfish. Perfect opportunity to tell me that it would be another 45 minutes until I got my food, but I was left with no warning. When I went to the front, the girl working the register was very rude. I also ordered the 3 piece chicken meal and didn’t get the mac n Cheese I ordered, but again, I was already made late for my daughter’s performance, so I couldn’t go back up there. I came because everyone raved in reviews about this place, but I was not impressed at all and will not be returning. Hopefully, my food doesn’t taste like the melted Styrofoam it had to be put in. Waste of $30.49.

It was pretty amazing. Real home-cooked, cooked to order food. I can’t begin to explain how delicious this food was. I mean…it was seriously good. And the prices were on point. It’s a family owned and run business and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. And they also cater, which I would be thrilled to have them cater one of our work events. I highly recommend.

Wow… I was not expecting this. It’s been a while since I had some good catfish. I knew once there was a little wait on my food it was going to be good. This is not fast food. Even the fries were good. Flavorful food, great service, and I’m ready to try other menu options. Please try them out!! Thank you

It’s hard to give it 3 stars for food because the fish was awesome! My husband and I got the 8 piece family meal with 2 sides collard greens and Mac and cheese. My brother and his girlfriend eventually got fish. She ordered fish and yams with Mac and cheese and my brother originally ordered a Philly cheese sandwich but they didn’t have the steak so they asked him if it was alright to substitute for chicken and he said yes. They also told us they didn’t have the dessert biscuits all after we had paid for everything, but they agreed to substitute the biscuits for cornbread. Then as we were waiting they said they didn’t have chicken either and my brother had to change his order again. So he ended up with fish and fries. When we got our meals I noticed our family portion of sides was in the same size bowl as the single order my brothers gf ordered. I also had to ask for extra plates to divide the family meal with my husband. The fish was great, the collard greens were great and the cornbread was wonderful! But the Mac and cheese was just seasoned noodles with runny orange sauce. It did not look like any soulfood Mac and cheese I’d ever seen. I was ready for a Mac and cheese bake. My brother’s gf said she liked the yams and had my same reaction to the Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was disappointing because I asked the cashier what were the best sides and Mac and cheese was one of the recommendations but the reviews on Google describe the Mac and cheese the same way I did. I would go back I would just make sure they had everything I ordered before I paid and would order yams and collard greens as my sides in the future.

Growing up in a family that was all about food, you start the Crave certain food that your grandma or your mom used to make and this place hits me with that nostalgia right when I walk in. The smells are great the sound coming from the kitchen sends me back they got gospel playing with R&B reminds me of my dad in the kitchen. Then you get your food and every bite remind you of Grandma’s home cooking I wish I could get this place 10 Stars it made me feel home. I want to support this place as long as I can I recommend it to anybody who loves good food
