We was in the small town of St.Johns Arizona. Looking for a place to eat.Came across El Camino Restaurant. We ordered “The Special “, came with cheese Enchiladas, taco and tostada. No rice and beans. So,I ordered rice and beans on the side. Complementary salsa and chips. The food was delicious. Waitresses were nice,The business was mellow for lunch. Come check it out.

Our server was swamped with tables so she was pretty rude and dismissive when we asked if the breaded shrimp had dairy in it. I get that the question is annoying, especially when it’s busy, but when someone has an allergy it’s not really something that can go unanswered. So our person with the allergy didn’t order anything and the server left.

The manager (I assume) came to the table a few minutes later and told us the shrimp was dairy free. She was very helpful so we ordered it. Our server also seemed to have a 180 when she returned with food and was very attentive.

Unfortunately the shrimp that cause the entire debacle in the first place came to the table totally raw beneath the breading. They were taken off the check without any fuss.

The other plates of food were completely fine. A standard plate of flautas you could get anywhere. Just the unnecessary hostility we received over a general request kind of ruined the meal.

If you have questions about the ingredients, enter at your own risk.

One of the best Mexican food restaurants on the mountain. Same family has owned it since 1983 when it opened. Friendly staff, prompt service and like I said, excellent food!

Meat was so questionable in appearance and awful in taste my mom couldn’t eat it.
The rice tasted like rubber and the beans just didn’t have a taste.

Jesus our waiter was friendly and attentive until he asked how the food was and my mom (amount eaten pictured) explained the problem.

He mockingly responded “I’m soooo sorry ma’am ” and he literally ignored us and never came back. Another waiter cleared our plate and got our check after I asked.

I shared my really mediocre nachos with my mom and the disgusting plate sat.

Jesus did however rush to meet us at the register. He said nothing could be done about the problems with our meal. When we asked for a manager he just said “not on site” ran the cards and walked away.

Food was gross. Use way too much chili powder like hot will cover the gross taste. Our waiter was awesome so we tipped him big. Not his fault beans were dry and crusty

Ate here the evening of 4/5/2019. Inedible food and horribe service. When we informed our waiter, Jesus, that there was a problem with one of our meals, he insincerely said “I’m sorry” and walked off. He never returned to the table for any other assistance or to refill soda. Another waiter finally came over and offered to clear some plates and we requested our check. Jesus met us at the register and said there was no one we could speak to about the uneaten meal and that he could do nothing.

Do your self a favor and eat elsewhere if driving through Saint John’s, AZ.

Small, quiet place, but the 2 servers that were on staff couldn’t keep up with the handful of tables there were. We waited 30 mins for refills before we asked if we could get them ourselves. Server was very friendly, just had to keep answering the phone for orders I’m assuming and couldn’t take care of her tables. Food was good and prices were reasonable.
