I was seated right away. However, while others after me were told to sit anywhere, I was sitting towards the back and would have preferred a window. In fairness, I did not ask as this was my first time. ( For reference, there may have been three tables being used, one with a couple of people and the other two with individuals, so not busy.)
It took a very long time after being seated to even being asked what I wanted. Even something as simple as water, so while I had planned on staying. I ended up food to go. I was tempted to walk out and leave prior to ordering, not only for not being offered something to drink, but menu was really dirty.
Re wait. in fairness, it felt like a hometown place relaxed and slower, but water would have made the difference.
The menu, FORTUNATELY, is not complete as I have a couple of sushi rolls that I always try first at a new restaurant just to gauge it against others. & they were not listed. Dragon roll and Caterpillar.
The lady who helped me was genuinely nice when I asked for the 2 rolls. However, the quality of the rolls were sub par.
The avocado appears to have been sitting out, and some of the elements of the sushi as a whole did not look or taste as fresh. ( I was there early evening, perhaps avocado had been from lunch or at even earlier.)
Nothing special, … may return for a second chance.
FYI, my pics make the food look brighter than what was truth.
Menu was good with decent selections and varieties. We usually only eat sushi so we jumped right to that part of the menu.
Great prices I must say. Staff was friendly and fast.
Sushi was good and decently fresh – can’t say it was out of this world. Between the two of us, we shared:
– complimentary miso soup which was tasty and heartwarming
– 3 nigiris of tuna, salmon and saba (mackarel). Huge chunks of fish, so far the biggest serving I have seen – WHOA! The salmon was a bit fatty tho 🙁
– 4 rolls: rainbow (was good but not great in taste and not the same without the avocado on top), ichiban (definitely my favorite due to the eel, excellent), philadelphia (the usual expectation) and crazy horse which sadly it was the worst it was supposed to have tuna, salmon and hamachi but it felt like raw meat not fish – definitely didn’t like this one.
-large warm sake
Would definitely return for the affordability.
