Went here the other night with my partner and the place was empty. We were told that they had a party coming in and several reservations so we were sat on the patio where the temp was inconsistent. The upper half of your body was warm where as your lower half was cold. The drinks were good and if you like gin martinis they only have one gin in house. The food took awhile to get to us and that was ok because it came out pretty warm. My main issue was the cat fish was very salty, and I like salt, the mash potatoes felt under salted, the asparagus were decent just wish the fibrous ends had been removed. I will say what made me not want to return was the fact that the “reservations” were not so plentiful that we weren’t able to sit inside. As well as the party we were told about were seated completely separate from the main dining room which made me question why myself and my partner were sat on the patio. Odd.

Our service was ok. Everyone was kind. However, the food was cold and serviced in intervals. The protein shrimp omelette was dry with no cheese or sauce made with boiled shrimp. The catfish was good fried perfect. The grits were good but cold. The shrimp and grits were lack luster very very little sauce. The shrimp were undercooked. The salmon croquettes were mostly bread filler. The fried green tomatoes were excellent. The oysters were very good. The coffee and creamer were also good. The ambience was nice. It was bright and pretty And the music was nice. The setting was great. The food not so good.

My friends & I had an amazing experience there yesterday!! From the welcome, to the ambiance, to the staff (especially our server Dominique), to the delicious food!! Thank you for the wonderful experience right in our own neighborhood.
SN- I may have messed up with the stars on Toast. So I’m fixing it here.

First time at Nasfi with my family! The history and cultural influence was enough for us to WANT to be here!!! Let’s start with the service I received after booking… top tier! We drove from the Northside ( Evanston ) and traffic was heavy. I called to inform that we would be late and the hostess reassured me that there was no problem, take my time and arrive safely. I let her know I was about 20 mins late and she edited the booking for me! When we get to Nasfi, the atmosphere was a VIBE!!!! Excellent customer service.. from the host, waitress ( can’t remember her name short dreds ), to the mixologist who has us eager for the fall drink menu!!! The oxtail empanadas so good. The white bean Hummus, best I’ve ever had!! The seafood platter and the GRILLED SNAPPER soooooooo good! Worth every penny!!! Family enjoyed their meals as well. Fried and Blackened Catfish perfect! Grits creamy delicious, dirty rice seasoned and cooked well! Peri Peri chicken.. not a hit. Chicken cooked well and great portion size, but it just wasn’t IT. Lions Mane steak… was good but was small. Possibly a heavy starch to add and make dish hearty? The Brussel sprouts deserve and honorable mention with the wilted greens. All drink were definitely a hit!!! We will be back!!!!! ( Cream corn was not available that night )

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience for our group of six. We were essentially forced to order from the Restaurant Week menu, even though we did not want to, and unlike many other restaurants, there was no option to order from the regular menu. That alone set the tone.
The Restaurant Week menu was horrible, and the drinks were just as bad. Service timing was completely off—our appetizers came out after the main courses, which makes no sense at a restaurant at this price point.
For my main course, I ordered the chicken and waffles, which turned out to be four small wing dings on top of a flat waffle for an unbelievable $40. It was nowhere near worth the price.
Our total bill came to $389, including an automatic gratuity of about $55, and it absolutely did not match the quality of food, drinks, or service we received.
Overall, this experience was not worth the money, the hype, or the frustration. Sadly, I will never be returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Ok where do I start, First they parking is a bit expensive, $9.60 for an hour and a half, We in sat down at about 510-515, ordered some drinks and appetizers while trying to figure out what to eat, the appetizers took a minute in the meanwhile we put in our dinner order, we received the drinks and appetizers, they were ok truffle fries were a bit bland, empanadas were good and out took around 10 minutes to get and eat . . . It’s now 652 and we’re just now receiving our dinner abd at no time did our waitress inform us about what was taking so long until around minutes before our food came out and they’re supposed to close at seven per the website!!!! My order fried catfish with dirty rice and broccoli catfish came out looking oh so delicious fried perfectly but lacked the seasoning to match, the dirty rice, I guess they forgot to season the dirty, rice and broccoli were bland, chicken on the other to me was under cooked, the highlight of the meal was the collards greens and the $10 piece of cornbread . . . Which was not that great overall this place is overrated and overpriced, maybe someone was having a bad day, but I’m one and done. I will not be back.

I wanted to give a 5 but for the reasons listed I could not. My food was good except my Creole Shakshuka was very salty. The atmosphere is a WHOLE VIBE! Our server was very friendly but service was extremely slow. My great aunt did not receive her meal until we were packing up. Its almost as if they were short staff and he had an abundance of large parties

Let me just say cute atmosphere. Service very slow. Oysters over cooked! Not really flavorful. I got the catfish is and grits which were good until I felt big chunks of grits in my mouth. The food took so long I wanted to cancel it. I ordered a Moscow mule. Idk what they gave me but it was full of ice it was good because I drank it fast. I didn’t taste any alcohol. Fried green tomatoes were good. Calamari was good. I won’t be back spent $80 on a drink, oysters and fish & grits.

I’m at the restaurant right now. The staff is pleasant but the service is very slow for the level of traffic in the restaurant and the food is mediocre. I paid $32 for flavorless pasta and bland lamb chops. I had to ask for salt and pepper. The food was cooked well, just lacked any flavor. I find the portions to be reasonable. The peri peri chicken was just sauteed cubed chicken. I think my food portion was a fair size but my husband’s could have been bigger. I also dont like that despite having many sides, you are limited to rice or potato and asparagus or broccoli with the eentres. I thought about ordering the side Ala carte but given the lack of flavor in the food I did receive, I’m glad I dodnt waste any more money.
And while I recieved the bill in good time but Im still here 10 minutes later waiting on the waiting to come collect payment. There is a QR code to make a payment with your phone but the link want you to download an app.
The Playlist is good but the music is too loud.

We had such a great experience at Nafsi. Dee welcomed us in and was incredibly friendly, taking the time to tell us about the cultural center and the restaurant. Our server, Elvin, was attentive and personable, which was a great start to our meal.
We did the Restaurant Week menu and started with the rice chicken bisque, it was flavorful and comforting. The lamb chops were delicious and super tender. I ordered them medium, but they came out closer to medium-well, which is fairly typical in my experience. If you prefer a true medium, I’d recommend ordering medium-rare.
We finished with the butter bread pudding, which was the perfect way to end the meal. I would absolutely return the next time I’m in town. Highly recommend!
