This is a great restaurant right in downtown Lima!! Each part of the experience we had was lovely!

The atmosphere, I must say, did still the show for all of us. While we (of course) discussed the kind servers and good food, the largest and most reoccurring topic of conversation was how STUNNING the place is. Both the top floor AND the basement/speakeasy area were beautiful. The top floor was more open, bright, and spacious! The bottom floor felt very intimate, cozy, and unique. Even being underground and windowless, though, it was well-lit and uplifting. The food could be the worst food I’ve ever had and I would still recommend the restaurant solely on its beauty.

You don’t have to worry about that, though. The food was delicious!!! It was not my all-time favorite Italian food (which I expected for the price), but it was memorable, scrumptious, and had an expansive menu with options for EVERYONE. We all loved our meals, and the portions were large, so we all had leftovers, too! We had the Chicken Breast Parmigiana, 4-Cheese Manicotti, Maine Lobster Ravioli, and Fettucine Tuscany! The bread called “The Dunk” was also fantastic! They are by no means selfish with their portions of anything, including the bread. It was all yummy!

We came during an emptier time (4:30pm, so before dinner), so we were a bit surprised that things seemed to take a while. We LOVED our server. She was so sweet, helpful, and fun to have as our waitress. She did wonderfully! Our pastas did take a while, though, and we didn’t get an update to let us know that. It was about 30 minutes to get our food, if not more, which isn’t too long at all, but sometimes with stuff like that, it is just good to know in advance that it will take a while so we can adjust accordingly!! Again, I still am giving it 4/5 stars because it wasn’t too bad! We just were very hungry so we definitely were aware about the time it took.

We had a lovely early dinner!! They also rotate in seasonal specials for food and drinks, as well as decorate for the time of year. The place is truly stunning and the ambience is perfect —the combination of the music, lighting, decor, and everything is amazing! I very much recommend!!

Came in at 7pm on a Monday and there was no wait and the dining room was maybe 25% to capacity which made for a quiet ambiance. The decor inside is very clean and classy. (No pictures of the food because it felt beneath the dignity of the vibe to whip my phone out and start taking pictures) Food was great! We had the caprese salad to start. The spinach was crisp and a little spicy, the olives were flavorful, the mozzarella and the avocado were firm. The pesto sauce they put on the tomatoes is awesome! Had the mushroom ravioli and the strip steak. The steak was great and cooked exactly as requested. The ravioli was also good. The sun dried tomatoes were good but there was a lot of them. The service was less than expected for the price point of the menu. Server did not know if they had a Cabernet (they do not) Also did not know what bourbons were available and we had to choose from what bottles we could see/recognize behind the bar from our table (They do have Woodford Reserve ) Asked for A1 sauce and it was brought to me in a little plastic cup with a lid on it like it came from the carry out stock (I don’t even know if they have carry out) Thought it was super weird for a $32 steak ‍♀️ Server came half way through eating and asked if we wanted any other drinks; when we said no she came back with our bill and told us there was no rush. Thought it was nice of her to allow us to finish eating before we paid We weren’t going to order dessert anyway (not that she asked ) but they had some REALLY tempting choices. May come back just for the desserts and lattes

Wow, great place. I had the best ever breaded tenderloin and fries.
Watching food coming out of the kitchen and it all looked good.
Service was good, Kristin was great!
Beautiful architect and atmosphere.
Prices were not bad. Twelve bucks for the tenderloin, McDonald’s would have cost me more $$.

I kid you not when i say there cant be more than 3 oz of chicken in here . Not to mention for the price the quality is terrible hire a new chef because this taste like a frozen meal. Chicken doesnt have salt or pepper on it , fake it till you make it establishment TYPICAL LIMA.

Food was okay. My chicken parm was flavored okay but was just warm. Now this is a Thursday evening with maybe a third full restaurant. My wife said her chicken breast was warm but a bit dry also. My biggest complaint is they would not take a Good Food gift card that clearly said Casa lu Al on it as well as the other restaurants. Something about owner selling to his children. They were more than willing to take the money when the gift cards were bought. The cards were nice because you had a choice of restaurants. Now I’m not so sure if I want to spend all at the Beer Barrel, really kinda pissed about the whole thing. I’ll use them but very disappointed in my limited choices now.

My family drove to Lima to see a touring musical. We got on the wait-list at Casa Lu Al with an hour and a half to spare, but it was pretty packed. We waited until the point that we were about to leave and find a fast food restaurant just so we wouldn’t miss our show. The host kindly let us know we were next, so we gave it a few more minutes, and we’re so glad we did. Our server, Ashley, was incredible. She took our entire order at the start, and we were out the door within 40 minutes. We made it to the show with time to spare, and we had an excellent meal. Casa Lu Al has a modern feel. It’s beautifully decorated and well thought out. The restroom facilities are immaculate and very private. The booth seating was comfortable – private enough to hold a conversation, but still part of the buzz of the dining room. I highly recommend The Dunk – it was a fantastic start. I ordered an aperol spritz, which was perfectly poured and garnished. All of the staff we interacted with were so kind and professional, and we are so thankful to Ashley and the rest of the Casa Lu Al family for magically turning our near-disaster into an unforgettable evening. Definitely a perfect stop before seeing a show at the Veterans Memorial Center – just make sure you make a reservation or plan to arrive early!

This was our first time visiting Casa Lu Al. Very beautiful establishment, our server was great, food was OK. Since it was a Friday evening and there was an event at the Civic Center, which we were attending, We decided to call and make a reservation for 6 people for 4:30, was told by an employee that answered the phone, well you really shouldn’t need one that early…really? THE WEBSITE INDICATES THAT YOU CAN MAKE A RESERVATION. So when we arrived to honor our reservation, even though it was early as they said, we still had to wait for them to prepare our table, while others were being seated. In my opinion, a restaurant with such high caliber should have been more prepared, especially that early to honor our reservation. In anticipation of having an enjoyable evening with friends and family we were highly disappointed with the customer service.

I typically avoid new places on opening night because I know the kinks usually need to be worked out over the first month. However, with only two days in town, I got lucky enough to visit Casa Lu Al on their opening night.

When we sat down, we were greeted by Kristin, who was not only amazing but also from the same part of New Orleans I used to live in. She was fun, personable, and knew her stuff, making us feel right at home.

We ordered our food, which mostly came out together—apps, salads, and entrees—but hey, it’s opening night, so I understand. The red sauce was a nostalgic reminder of the original recipe. The lasagna was definitely deserving of a chef’s kiss, and the calamari was cooked to perfection, though the sauce was a bit too acidic for my taste. The carbonara, while cooked perfectly, lacked flavor and excitement.

Despite these small issues, I’m glad I got to see the new spot while in town. I’m excited to see how it evolves on my next trip. Big kudos to Kristin; she made the entire dinner enjoyable. I was too full for dessert, so that’s on the list for next time.

Looking forward to seeing what Casa Lu Al becomes in the future!

Food was very good. I had been here before and thought the food was just ok. Maybe it was just me having an off day as the food was very good this time. We were celebrating a birthday and our waitress was very nice but it took her a long time fto bring it some out some of our food items and to refills drinks. Not sure of this was because she was over tasked or what.

Over all great atmosphere, great food, will definitely be back.
