There were three of us, and everyone else’s food was fine. I ordered the steak medallions (medium rare) with potatoes, over-easy eggs, and a biscuit with gravy. My steak arrived well done. It took about 15 minutes before our server, Emma, checked on us. I politely asked for a replacement.
She seemed annoyed but brought out a new plate quickly. Unfortunately, the second steak was completely rare, and one of my eggs was undercooked and runny (white runny like it was out cracked open.) Since no one checked on the replacement dish for over 15 minutes, we asked a busser to get a manager.
The manager never introduced herself and immediately said, “Yeah, that’s not medium rare, that’s rare, but it’s not like I’m back there cooking it.” She offered to comp the meal and asked if I wanted a pancake, but I wasn’t looking for a freebie—I just wanted the food I ordered, prepared correctly.
After that, Emma avoided our table entirely, helped the table next to us multiple times, and dropped off the check without us asking. We had planned to order more, but at that point we were ready to leave. Even on the way out, both the server and manager ignored us, despite saying goodbye other guests.
As a manager myself, I know mistakes happen. What matters is owning them and fixing them. Instead, both the manager and server passed blame and showed no interest in making things right.
Maybe it was an off day, but this was a truly awful experience from start to finish. I won’t be returning.
We ordered their House brew, a Pumpkin Spice latte, the Southwest Eggs Benedict, Steak Medallions, Chicken Fried Chicken, a Meatlovers Omelet, plus their pancakes and hash browns. We also ordered the Banana Nutella crepe for dessert.
For a group of 3, it’s a whole lot of food, so could definitely feed 4-5 people.
We all tasted each others orders, and found the Chicken Fried Chicken and the hash browns to be the fave. The Steak medallions were mid, as the meat was on the hard side despite being medium rare, and the hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict were too thick and set, not the least bit gooey. Flavor was good though. The Meatlovers omelet had too much cheese in it, that’s all we could taste.
All in all still a good visit, thanks for the great service as well!
Now, I’ll be honest—while the food was good, it wasn’t mind-blowing for me this time. My dessert in particular just didn’t hit the spot, but that could’ve been me having an off day with my taste buds. What really matters though, and what I noticed most, was the atmosphere and the service. The energy of the place, the full house, and how attentive everyone was made me enjoy being there. The place was clean and of course, I always check the restrooms and they were clean!
That’s what I take with me from this visit—sometimes it’s not just about the food, but about the whole experience. And here at 30 Brunch House, that experience was definitely worth it.
